“Not a good choise for Vienna”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

If you have the possibility to find another one do it!
The standard room is vey bad with a bed like in a ship, but at least it was clean!Bathroom very small with nothing special in it!Even the pillows are very bad and you have to ask for another one
The joke is that they are promoting the superior rooms in the hotel by advertising them!
Breakfast not good with no variaty and the coffee also not good, for sure breakfast for 3 stars
Menu served at the restaurant was ok but nothing special!
At the bar one drink( whiskey ) 9,40 euro very expensive, no service and no peanuts.
The emloyees at the reception were very polite and helpful

Room Tip: Vienna is glamourous so your hotel must be too and sure not this one

I spent a weekend in tnis hotel, it is excellent value for money and location is great, you dont have to use public transport to get to the city centre, everything is near. But if you wont, metro station is right in front of the hotel entrance. Breakfast was also very good.

Stayed here with a tour group, so hotel was picked by tour company. Our allocated room was very basic, we were told by tour company this was a 4 star hotel but not so. Bathroom was clean but quite small, mattress on bed very uncomfortable as well as pillow. Also queen bed had two separate single donnas which was most unsuitable for a goodnights sleep (this may be the european style?). Breakfast was ok but this hotel obviously caters to lots of tour groups, so was very busy at this time. if you want a budget hotel then this hotel would be in that category.

Very much a conference hotel. We had prebooked but they had trouble finding our reservation. Room was reasonably sized but with a miniscule shower room and dripping tap in wash basin. Breakfast was adequate and luckily we were only here for 3 nights. Wifi is only available in the public areas. The redeeming feature is the proximity to the underground, two minutes away.

Kind of difficult to find the hotel if you have only the adress. Regarding the hotel itself, everything was fine. Nice, clean room, WIFI in the lobby. Breakfast also OK, but you have to be lucky, not to meet a 50 persons group from Spain :)

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

I stayed in May and was given a great room and enjoyed it so went back in August. This time I had a very basic small single "Classic" room - went back to reception and they did find me a slightly bigger room with a double bed, being a tall guy its important for my sleep. However I always request a high floor as I like a view and this was on a low floor in the old wing which seems to have lots of cracked tiles in the lift areas on each floor.( Hotel has 500 bedrooms over two main wings, the wing accessed by lifts opposite reception is more modern and nicer, thats where they seem to put the coach tours_ the older wing reached by a pretty grubby pair of lifts is past the breakfast room and lounge area) and being near the lift shafts could hear every time the lift moved.

Anyway I dropped my bags and went out being a sunny day, I noticed posters offering room upgrades so after a day out upon return I decided I would go for an upgrade and see if I could have the same room I had first time, which by now I realized was a "business plus" newly refurbished room so last time I was luckily upgraded anyway. Reception ( who never smile, even the trainees dont smile, strange!) called a lady who I guess was a manager and was brusquely told yes you can its 35 euro extra. I had seen that included breakfast and free wi-fi so decided I'd take it, and had a room 2 doors from my old one, which is top floor and looks out over roof tops to see in the distance the cathedral and the City centre. If had the same small wardrobe furniture as "Classic" which is fine for a couple of days but not much storage for say 2 people for long stay. Wi-Fi was free and worked well and all the fittings were high quality, nice king sized comfy bed, the rooms are not huge but okay and one big omission is lack of power points. For a room which is supposed to be business plus
there is only one power point running a standard lamp I could find_ none on the desktop/ table.

Also the upgrade was supposed to include luxury toiletries and bathrobe/ slippers none of which were provided, I called reception to ask for shampoo/ bath gel, etc and was told that we now only supply the all in one squeezy things on the wall. I think its very poor, even in standard rooms for a so called 4 star hotel only to have a squeezy pot thing for soap and an all in one thing in shower which I'd never use on my hair as I dont see how you can successfully mix body wash and shampoo. This mean I had to go out to a local store and buy a small shampoo. Also part of the upgrade is supposedly free mineral water, but where and when? Again I called reception to ask and they said help yourself to water from the mini-bar, which I did- 3 small bottles where there. But end of day 2 it had not been restocked so I had to call reception another time and ask for more water please, which arrived several hours later.

The "business power" breakfast was good, excellent with only a few people but good selection of bread rolls, cereals, yoghurts, cold meats and hams, hot sausages and eggs, etc, just a shame paying a premium for it you still had to make your own tea/ coffee. Sitting out in the small patio/ garden area was nice on a sunny day, but the garden is not really cared for, could be much better. Note the standard breakfast is in a big breakfast room with what looks like a reasonable buffet but you are sharing with several hundred others on their coach tours.

They are doing a some work in the hotel around reception area, not good to see as soon as you open the main door which welcomes you with big signs saying " Please keep these doors closed" bit like being at school- no concierge in sight to greet you, ask if you need a hand with your case, etc. I dont know how they rate hotels in Austria but this is a three star by UK standards surely.

The rooms were clean and housekeeping good. The upgrade was fine if everything had been provided and I knew how to do things and was told. I suggested they had a welcome card they gave to folk who upgrade explaining the wi-fi, water, bathrobes, etc, but didnt seem to be a good suggestion_ also some of the posters and videos offering upgrades offer different things like one offered free access to a health club which I noticed as I checked out, I said Oh I would have used that, they said no that deal finished two years ago, all rather confusing.

When I got back to Uk I sent a mail to hotel manager just pointing out nicely some of the things and that no one brought a bathrobe or slippers to my room and none of the luxury toiletries were provided, his reply was simply that was a failing of housekeeping and he would tell them_ oh, okay, thats it? A big apology? seems not.

With all the competition in Vienna not sure I'd stay here again, especially as half the time you have to fight your way through huge coach loads of older tourists pushing and shoving to get in the lifts, I was carrying a large tea when some Italian man with his wife and loads of bags lunged for the lift spilling hot tea over my arm and really stung. Its location is great- right opposite a main Ubahn station, 3 stops to the centre, and easy to walk around the area with plenty of resturants and supermarkets, but the "Classic" standard rooms are really nothing special at all and breakfast seems always to be an extra.

Room Tip: Avoid classic and go for the next grade up, but be aware you will share the corridors with noisy coa...
