“Great concert experience, watch out where your seated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

We booked online for the Mozart concerts in the Golden Hall. The main issue was that we were seated on the stage behind the orchestra. The sound was really good though, just a bit of a strange view. We could have tried to change seats but we would have had to go back to the reception area and queue again. But still a must see and hear experience.

“Nice music hall & Orchestra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

We went there for tne oppening of the automn/winter season. The orchestra was great, and the programme fantastic. We found the conservation of the building behind what we expected, and certainly poorer then that of the Philharmonie or the Lincoln Center.

“Excellent performance but spoilt by the non stop photography”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013 via mobile

Venue 10/10
Musicians 10/10
Conductor 10/10
Audience 0/10

The venue and the performers were fantastic. Every bit as atmospheric as you imagine it to be.

However it was seriously spoilt by the venue not having a "no photography" rule.

We were constantly put off by people blocking your view of the stage with their iPads, flashes going off the whole time, and the distraction of seeing electronic screens in your eye line throughout the performance.

They really need to sort this out

“Don't buy your tickets online!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

We bought our tickets online by typing in 'Musikverein Austria' and going to a site. I can't speak for all of the sites, but we paid 13E more for each ticket than we would have if we had bought them from the dressed up sellers in front of the hall and elsewhere in the city. We bought 59E tickets and paid 72E for them. Bummer!

When we got to our seats we were in the balcony on the side. I think our necks would have been permanently crinked had we watched it from there. Fortunately my girlfriend went down and asked if we could change our seats. They gave us seats on the floor about 8 rows away from the stage!! GREAT seats. GREAT concert!

My advice: Buy cheap tickets and ask to change seats! :-) Of course if the place is sold out you may be out of luck. There were LOTS of seats available when we attended and we could have just gone and sat anywhere without asking as they don't have assigned seats even on the floor.

“A beautiful and elegant venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

The Mozart Orchestra concert was amazing and very impressive.

However we had a problem with our tickets as there were no seat allocations at the time of purchasing tickets online. When we went to collect tickets they couldn't find two seats together for myself and my friend. We were told that we should have them collected an hour ago but according to our experience in UK we don't have to worry about seating as they are already allocated. We were offered £89 worth seats instead of what we paid £35. We were lucky in away as we got to sit very close to the stage and thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

We purchased tickets through www.viator.com and we were asked to meet outside by the nearest station but there wasn't anyone waiting. The ticket mentioned that we'll receive a Mozart's Complimentory CDs. Since we have purchased 2 tickets we expected 2 CDs as we live in different countries and there's no way we could share it. However, we were told that we'll receive only 1 CD. But when the issue with our seating came up we demanded 2 CDs and the girl was willing to give anything to get rid of us and serve the next one on the queue. It was worth the argument.
