“Great value, very friendly place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

We stayed in the hotel in the end of november for 3 nights. It's a friendly small place situated in an old building. The entrance is a bir weird, looks a bit deserted, rhe reception is in the second floor, where we stayed (at 223). The room is quiet big, old style like. The bed is comfortable and there 2 small couches and a small table next to it. The bathroom was clean and cousy. Breakfast was basic, not much of variety. The owner is a great guy, very helpful and easygoing. I would recommand it for those who want to be close to the center. Those who like modern shinny style rooms would appreciate it less.

We were looking for a hotel where we could leave the car and walk around the city and this was perfect. We paid €10 per day to park the car on the street in front of the hotel - you might have to be patient, but there was a place available within 10-15 min., cars come and go.

The hotel itself is nothing special - an old building with some floors converted into a hotel - but more than adequate and good value for the price. The room was big, beds comfortable and little street noise.

The best thing about this location is the location. It is around a 5 minute walk from the Rathaus subway stop on U2, which is 3 stops away from Karlplatz (opera house, TI, Albertina, Hofburg palace, etc). It is walkable; however, it would probabily take 30 minutes to walk to those places. The hotel price includes air conditioning (works really well), wifi (not well but we were on the 2nd floor), and breakfast (cold breakfast consisting of different types of bread, ham, cheese, cereal, yogurt). Of these included items, the air conditioning is the best. The rooms are run down but clean. We stayed in room 223. The bed, blanket, and pillow were all very comfortable and we had a good night's rest. However, there were definitely cons. The wires attached the chandelier light fixture to the ceiling were exposed - seems like it was going to fall down onto the ground! Water from the bathroom sink backflows to the drain in the shower. The drain in the shower does not drain well so you're pretty much standing in ankle deep of "dirty water" when you're showering. (Gross). Being on the second floor and facing the inner courtyard, our room was pretty quiet. The only noise we got was of our neighbor opening/closing the door. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to those traveling on a budget but want to be close to the city center and want air con for summer months. I would not recommend this hotel because it includes a free breakfast because there all sorts of interesting little cafes in Vienna and for a few euros you would be much happier with what they have to offer.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor are quieter than those on the mezzanine; however, the wifi may not be as r...

The hotel is very good located very close to the City Hall and the whole inner district of Vienna is in walking distance of the hotel or if you need to use the Metro, it takes you only 5 minutes to be there. The rooms are a bit disappointing, very old - a bit run down (stains and holes in the furniture),the toilets in the rooms are already smelling. The only big advantage - you do have an air condition. The breakfast area is in the mezzanin without a window - the tables are not even decorated, looks like a fast food cantine, also the general offer of the breakfast is very basic and even though there is a lady, she is not asking you if you would like to have a coffee and is bringing it to you. It is a very cheap hotel, so maybe one cannot expect more, but I would not recommend it, if you are the first time in Vienna or want to spend a romantic weekend there.

Right in the heart of the city, the hotel offers spacious comfortable rooms and almost home atmosphere due to the friendly and helphull staff. It is situated between two metrostations and close to a tram station. It turned out, actually, that the historic center is so close that we didn't need any transport to explore it. The only thing that might be confusing when arriving, is that the hotel is situated on the second floor of a building that also houses several other institutions and the sign, indicating that there is a hotel in the building is small and not easily visible from the street.

Situated near the university and the city hall, the location is great!
rooms are large, but the luxury furniture was crappy. Stains on the walls and holes in it. The room was clean enough but made a poor impression because of the stains and holes.
Small but efficient bathroom
Breaksfast was sustaining. Nothing special but not bad either.
Not a bad hotel, but too expensive for what you get

I arrived in Vienna after dark, so finding this hotel was very strange. It's located in a huge old building and you must enter through 2 large imposing black metal gates, then enter the building, take the super small (fits 3 ppl max) slow elevator up to the 2nd floor. If I didn't see the sign, I never would've thought there's a pension here. Good thing Vienna is pretty safe or I would be too scared to enter at all!

Once inside, the rooms are very large & old fashioned, but comfortable. Small narrow bathroom but works fine. The bed is sleepable & there's a huge wardrobe for use. The rooms are cleaned daily, very soundproof, & warmed enough against the cold Vienna winter. Wifi works reasonably well in the room, although works better in the breakfast room on the 2nd floor. Breakfast is buffet style, lots of cold meats, cheeses, eggs, cereal & muesli, fresh coffee, tea, milk & oj. The service is fine, like other places in Vienna, the staff isn't chatty at all. Polite & reserved, very friendly when spoken to, but not initiator of conversations. What a difference from Istanbul!! I didn't mind the service at all.

The location is great b/c it's on a quiet street but only 2 blocks from the Rathaus park and/or metro. We went during the Xmas markets season and Rathaus has the biggest & best market in Vienna so it's was awesome being able to walk it every night. Just walking around the market makes you feel warm, happy, and cheerful from the atmosphere!! Definitely recommend going to Vienna during Xmas market season, despite the cold, the punch and sausages warms you right up!
