“Great sit down breakfast cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

We had breakfast here two of our three days. It was a nice place to sit down and enjoy a light breakfast. We ordered the bread, meat, and cheese plate with a small OJ for 5.90 Euro (tea extra). It was right across from our hotel and the Opera House so very conveniently located. It is a cafe style place as opposed to a more formal restaurant which is how they probably keep the prices lower. A nice start to the day.

“A great place to eat and watch the world go by, morn. noon and night.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2011

On our first night in Vienna, as we were walking around, we were actually looking for another place but it had already closed, so we wandered into the Xcelsior and had a quick snack, a couple of panini's and a soda. The waitress was very nice and the sandwiches were very good.

The next morning we found ourselves back in the same area, Stephansplatz, and decided to go back to the Xcelsior for breakfast. We each (two of us) had bacon and eggs, orange juice and coffee with buttered toast. The food was very, very good and again the service was excellent. Since the café is in Stephansplatz, you could watch the crowds go by and soak in Vienna, plus, the café has a flat screen and it was usually on CNN so we could catch up on what was happening in the rest of the world as well.

For Stephansplatz, it wasn’t pricey either; we had a full sit down breakfast, for two and paid 25 Euro…12.50 per person. I know we could have grabbed something quick for a lot less but I like sitting down to a good breakfast. Just a note, most of Vienna is still smoking and this café is no different, however, they do have an upstairs if you have a real problem and I found them eager to accommodate. We ended up there again one other night, seems they are one of the last, if not the, last to close and again, they didn't disappoint. Great food and service!
