“Our own apartment in Viena , best option....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

We stayed in a two room apartment in this hotel for 3 days. One room was big together with the kitchen in the same area, no division. Even though the two big windows opened to the street, it was quiet. The other room was much smaller, and the curtains were not thick enough to darken the room. We traveled with another couple, relatives, and the only bathroom was sometimes not enough. Is was over all clean and despite the building being old, the areas were renovated, specially the bathroom, witch was fairly new. Towels ok. Beds were comfortable. Good Breakfast, plenty of options, served in the hotel area. The location is great. Neat the Opera, and the Naschmarkt with lots of eating options and the main train station. No parking including but we were lucky enough to find a parking space in the street near by and left the car there all day for 8€. There is a garage 1 block away but it was €18 a day. The staff is very friendly and helpful, specially the man at the front desk. This is the 3rd time we stay at the Carlton Opera, first time in the apartment area and will surely come back. For us it is the best option in Viena.

We stayed here for three days and were very happy. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us to book tours and concerts.

The rooms are not very big but clean and comfortable and there is free coffee and wifi in the rooms. The hotel is also ideally situated for tourists visiting the opera house and other attractions in that area.

The breakfast was also very good with lots of variety and fresh products.

The appartments are behind the hotel, with a separate entrance although check in and breakfast are in the main hotel. The appartment was big and clean and had a reasonable kitchen, two bathrooms, a single and double bedroom. The living space was dominated by the second double bed so there was no space to relax in really. The location wasn't bad, close to the station for the train into town. Parking was close, but expensive. Breakfast was basic. Better blinds would have made for a better sleep, but the courtyard is quiet.

I stayed 10 days while on business in Vienna. The location is fantastic, very near to the opera, the Hofburg, the Naschmarkt and lots of restaurants. The room was kept very clean (although the shower could use more of a scrubbing), the breakfast was basic but plentiful and the staff was nice. The place was much less expensive than I expected in that area. Will definitely stay again.

Perfect location for visiting museums and for Stadt Opera. Professional and friendly staff, good breakfast and comfortable room with interesting fixtures. The hotel also has a reasonable price parking facility.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

We stayed 3 nights in one of the apartments in Muhlgasse (number 2304). This is a separate building from the main hotel (reached by a short covered outside passage). The apartment block itself is quite old and grand with a large stone staircase hung, bizarrely, with British coats of arms! The apartment is spacious and quiet and some rooms had nice parquet flooring. It was also clean and comfortable but everything supplied is very basic. No extra pillows or blankets, no provisions in the kitchen. All the furnishings are modern and cheap looking. It would have been so nice to have a really comfy chair or sofa to sink into after a long days' sightseeing!

The location is very convenient, quite near the centre and Metro and trams are close by, plenty of restaurants and bars in the vicinity but the apartment itself very quiet.

The breakfast was fine, a lot of choice including freshly boiled eggs but as others have mentioned, nasty coffee from a machine. In Vienna no fresh coffee! Why????

Finally we found the staff were fine, helpful but not the warmest.

Overall I'm sorry to say that although there were no real problems next time we are in Vienna we will look for somewhere else

We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment on Muhlgasse. It was in a beautiful building. The rooms had high ceilings and were spacious and lovely. The beds were not exceptionally comfortable, but they were okay. The kitchen had totally new appliances and had sufficient plates, etc. The only real issue with the hotel was the temperature. We stayed there in February, which is normally a rather chilly time of year. However, the outside temperature was really mild, ranging in the upper 40's and low 50's (Fahrenheit) during the day. Nevertheless, our rooms were uncomfortably cold. The radiators in the main bedroom did not work, although they did work in the other rooms. Regardless, we still needed to use the space heaters in both bedrooms. They helped, but due to the size of the place, we were still on the cold side.
