“Worst hotel in 20 years of travel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We booked 3 rooms for 4 nights at this hotel following earlier positive reviews on this site. All of us dropped out after the first night as the rooms were all but uninhabitable. Broken plaster and mold on the ceiling were the lesser of the problems - massive dirt incl. hairs, crust and stains to an incredible extend wherever we moved disgusted us all; showering was a health hazard. The central location could not balance out this disgusting hotel experience (which is suitably located right next to an erotic parlor).

Room Tip: All 3 rooms booked were equally in desolate condition

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012 via mobile

Everything of interest was within walking distance. Trains were easy for a few points of interest outside of the city. The front desk was polite and helpful, the breakfast was sufficient and the rooms were clean. Not luxiurious but I was not expecting that, this place actually exceeded my expectations for an affordable European hotel.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Our intention was to stay again at the Hotel Pension Franz, 100 m toward the corner but the voice from the phone guided us to this hotel.
After an annoying entrance door, passing through an splendid hall I found a small reception, a very friendly receptionist (Romanian speaker) and a nice, clean, comfortable and silent room. A kettle and teabags are provided in the rooms. The hotel have only a breakfast room (no bar, no restaurant), breakfast being good enough. The internet connection in the room is almost missing, therefore I had to use the breakfast room to have acces at Internet. Doing this, in one night returning to my room, I had the unpleasant surprise the entering card to be not functional. So funny, I stayed almost one hour on the corridor knocking on the room door waiting for my wife to open the door. :)
The location is convenient, close to city hall and other sight seeings from Vienna.
If you are with your car, you can park (they charge 4,5 EUR) in adjoining streets at the public parking spots.

I've stayed at the Schottenpoint for a week in July. Breakfast is modest (though fresh and tasty), rooms are not huge, but... great service is what made my stay memorable. Whatever questions or requests I had, I was always welcomed with a positive attitude and professionalism. Also, location is nice - 10 minutes walk to Town Hall square
PS. Rated Sleep quality as "average" since it was really hot - t's not related to hotel itself, rather the crazy weather on the first week of July :)

An unassuming front, leads into a once grand communial entrance, up a few stairs along a corridor, to the "hotel" sign. Inside is a small reception desk with many leaflets on things to do. The rooms were clean & large, I think 13 is a suite. We had room 12. No aircon and a bathroom window that opens into the street, where neighbours can look in. Friday is rubbish collection day, very noisy at 7.30am. The breakfasts are ok, standard fare. There is no hairdryer. A good location with a tram stop outside.
