This was a Priceline stay of $55/night for 6 nights. This hotel is conveniently located kitty-cat corner to U-bahn Greenline-U4: Meidling Hauptrasse. At the time of our stay, the U-bahn station was under construction but if you exit the "UImanstrasse" exit, you should be able to see the hotel across the street. The building is gray and pink.
The room was great. It was clean with down comforter and pillows. I like firm beds but this one was firmer than I would have liked it to be. The shower pressure was great but be warned, the tub is elevated like the Hilton Olympia in London so watch your head if you are tall. Instead of mints, the front desk offers Haribo-gummi bears.
There is a 24 hour business center but internet access was 0.30€/minute! Ouch. We found the best price to be at BigNet Cafe for 2.60€/hour.
We did not eat at the restaurant as it was quite expensive. Sunday brunch was 43€/person. We ordered from the bar which offers a few items. We ordered a hamburger, fries and salad for 10.30€ and a cold smoked salmon sandwich for 4.80€ (not worth it). There are no nearby restaurants so the hamburger was the cheapest hot meal we could get. There is a BILLA grocery store nearby but remember to bring your bag or hand carry your items as bags cost 0.25€.
We bought an unlimited ride ticket for the city's transport priced at 24€, that contains 8 individual partitions that can be subdivided among a group of several riders i.e. two persons 4 days of travel. There is also an unlimited rides ticket for 24-hours for 5€ and 72-hours for 12€ but these cannot be shared. A one-way ticket including all transfers is 1.50€ so either one of the unlimited ride ticket will be better off. Schonnbrunn Palace is one U-bahn stop away and is walkable from this hotel and be prepared to spend a day here so save your unlimited ride pass.
Airport Transfers-From the hotel's recommendation, we took the City Airport Terminal (CAT) 9€ one-way/16€ round-trip to stop Landstrasse and from there, we took the U-bahn Greenline: U4 to Miedling Haupstrasse using one of our unlimited ride ticket. We later found out that the unlimited rides ticket entitled us to take the Schnelbahn S7 with no additional cost to Landstrasse whereas the CAT was an additional 16€/per person. There are pros and cons to taking the S-bahn vs. the CAT. The CAT is a non-stop service that takes you to the main hub of where the U-bahn and S-bahn stops are in 16 minutes. The S-bahn is a local service that makes several stops. Since we are on vacation, we have time on our hands and prefer to save the money instead.
