“No free wi-fi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

We visited Hilton Vienna this December for our christmas trip my family and our friends ,also a family (we were 8 persons). When we first went in the staff were in good behavior but not excellent, the didn't showed us how to use the elevator ,they have a really stupid system, and we were struggling to go upstairs to our rooms hopefully a lady helped us. People were showing to other people how to use the elevator. I helped a lot of times people to go to their rooms because the hotel staff didn't explained to them. The next thing that I find ridiculous is that they don't have free wifi, not even at the lobby! You have to pay 25€ a day or 10€ an hour !!!!!! Is the only hotel that doesn't have free wifi. They only give half an hour free at the business lounge if you have you to do something related to business , not if you want to go on facebook or read the news online.

Just spent 4 nights at the very convenient Hilton. It has access to public transport , which we did not use aside from one ride on the tram back from the Rathaus , and is conveniently located at the east end of the Stadtpark .

Because I have Gold status @ Hilton I was given a lovely high floor corner room , with a view of the beautiful city . Also the executive Floor was very convenient , and breakfast was excellent with full buffet, plus pancakes, waffles ,omellettes cooked to order

Obviously Christmas is a wonderful time of year to visit Vienna with all the Christmas Markts

We spent three days over Christmas in Hilton Vienna. The location was not ideal but was within walking distance from the St. Stephen's Basilica and right by the metro station. The room was pretty standard but very clean, great matress - pillows - duvet and great view towards the Stadtpark and St. Stephen's. The breakfast buffet had a very wide variety complete with eggs and waffles made to order. However, the restaurant was packed with people during breakfast and at times was too noisy. Also, coffee was not made to order but instead there was a pot of filter coffee in every table, which I think is not what one expects from a 5* hotel. As far as dining was concerned, we ordered room service once and our meal was good but not great and a bit pricey. A big downside was that there was no wi-fi internet access during our stay in any area of the hotel due to some upgrading process. Instead there were computers at the m1 level free to use, but if one wished to check email on their smartphones there was no way to do so. On the upside, the best part of our stay was that at a great price we opted for an executive floor room with lounge access where we would have coffee after breakfast and organize our day or visit in the afternoon for some snacks and drinks.
Hilton had certain disadvantages but overall our stay was quite good in terms of value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms with executive lounge access are worth the extra cost.

We made the reservation to Hilton Vienna throught Galahotel.com. at a very good price. The Breakfast and the hotel were great. The location is very good, althought it doesn´t look so good at first. 10-15 minutes walk from the attractions, the airport station and underground is beside the hotel. The only complain, if any, was that our room, was very modest for a 5 star hotel, in a bottom floor, and intern (no view at all) - but it is understable because the excellent price we got for Hilton.

I stayed here for three days while on holiday to see Vienna. Used priceline and picked up the hotel for ~USD95.00 per night. The hotel is suited to be a business hotel, but can work for tourists (such as us) as well. The hotel is listed as 5 stars, but is really more like 4 stars by North American standards. Overall I would say it was pretty modern and the rooms very nice, well furnished. I also liked the fact that they gave a free bottle of water (a large one!), which was a very nice touch.

Location-wise, this hotel is great relative to the main train station (Wien Mitte). We took the City Airport Train from the airport into the train station, which worked well for us (only 16 min trip, very comfortable train ride). However, it is a bit of a walk (10-15min) from the hotel to the tourist areas (Imperial Palace, etc.). There are hotels closer to the tourist spots, if that is important. The subway system in Vienna though is fantastic, would recommend it over a taxi which is slower/more expensive in traffic.

One slight on the hotel was the charge for using the internet of EUR25 per day. Would have been better if this was included or was at a more reasonable rate. One way to get around this is to use the business centre. They provide free sessions of 15 min and 30 min. They always try to push 15 min sessions, but ask for the 30 min session so you are less rushed!

The hotel was nice but a room update is definitely needed. The hotel is close to many attractions with the subway right across the street. The executive lounge was excellent. Trkulja who was a waiter in the executive lounge was exemplary. My only concern was the concierge. One day we asked Andreas about appropriate dress to a Mozart concert. His response was "it used to be formal dress but foreigners ruined it and now dungarees and polo shirts are worn." Several other negative comments were made by the concierge during our stay. Overall we loved Vienna, great food and lots to see.

Further to my review for this Hilton property back in April 2012, I visited this hotel again this Aug. My return was made very pleasant by their staff and hotel manager as I had mentioned a small inconvenience with the parking the last time.

Now as Hilton explained, the parking was not something they controlled and the one night parking at 58 Euros was a bit much last time.

But here is where the real story begins. Their hotel manager (Ronald) made it a point to make me welcome again and laid out the VIP service. This included free parking outside their hotel(valet), free internet and use of the executive lounge. The room I received was also an upgraded one facing the city with dessert on the table to welcome me.

I have travelled and visited many chains and boutique hotels over the years and I am always inspired by the ability, especially for a large chain and their leadership, to take customer service to a personal level and enhance their satisfaction to make amends.

Their attention to make my return enjoyable was appreciated. Hilton Vienna, please keep up the good work as I will definitely be coming back!
