“Perfectly placed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2006

We chose this perfectly placed hotel through TripAdvisor and weren't disappointed. It's right in the heart of Vienna and close to all the main sites, shopping areas, the river and all forms of transport. The hotel itself was elegant yet cosy and welcoming. We had a junior suite and there was loads of space, plus a huge bathroom and a safe. We had a room overlooking the central sitting room dome - no view but it meant that you could open the windows at night and it was safe and very quiet.

Breakfast was wonderful - lots of choice and all beautifully fresh and the kitchen staff were all very friendly. They made me toast every day and even made sure I had strawberry jam when they realised I prefered it! There were chandeliers and oil paintings in the breakfast room, easy chairs and coffee tables in the lounge, another quiet room with a free computer and printer plus Internet access in the room. The hotel concierges will help you with concert or meal bookings.

There's no restaurant in the hotel itself but there's a huge choice of restaurants of all types and price ranges, all within easy walking distance. I'd recommend Do&co or the Palmenhaus for a fancy meal and the Pizza place just down from the Stephansdom for a cheap but tasy meal. Try Sparky's bar too, round the corner from Do&co - a very friendly beisl/bar which offered meals, snacks, coffees and drinks and best of all was open until very late.

Vienna itself was wonderful too - concerts, museums, palaces, shops, the Danube............ the list is endless.

We couldn't have asked for more - highly recommended.

I am so grateful to tripadvisor for suggesting this gem.We spent 2 nights and things could not have been better. From the front desk to the room and the breakfast, I cannot rate this hotel too highly. The only problem is it may become too busy and I may not get another reservation.

I had room 216, wonderful and larger than I had expected. The bed was very comfortable. The air conditioning was so cold, I had to turn it way down. I had a nice breeze from the window. This hotel is so close to the U-bahn (stephenplatz) that it is very convenient to get to and from the airport. Forget the taxi, take the CAT. The front desk was very helpful with all my tourist questions!
I look forward to coming back here next time I'm in Wein!

The HKE has the best possible location, right in the center of everything in Vienna, as well as wonderful and large rooms and a very pleasant atmosphere. I was very pleased with the large bathroom and the fact that it had a window. I also enjoyed the decorations and the fact that everything worked as expected.
The hotel concierge was always helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was a delight.

You can't go wrong with this hotel. The location could not be more convenient for sightseeing, the facilities are modern and clean but full of old-world charm and style, and the staff are very helpful. It is an especially good value for a single room. The bed was very comfortabable, the bathroom was huge, and it was incredibly quiet. I didn't want to leave! I would definitely go back on my next trip to Vienna.

The hotel is in the heart of the attractions. One minute or less walk to U Bahn (subway) Stephanplatz station. Easy access to many must-see attractions in Vienna. I got a small single room which is actually very small but with aircon and all the necessary stuffs. Staffs were friendly. Internet is available free of charge. It's a bit noisy in the morning, I could hear people walking and closing doors outside my room but not much a problem for me. Overall - highly recommended.
