“Great time in Vienna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

This December my finace and I have decided to spend some time in Vienna. After all I picked hotel Capricorno and it was excellent choice. The hotel is at the great location and very quite. The Bfast was very good. From this hotel it is very easy to go anywhere in Vienna and trust me there is so meny things to see and to do in Vienna. Strongly recommend you to by Vienna Card which allows you to use public transportation for 72 h. The tram and metro in Vienna are excellent and the maps are posted evrywhere. We went to castle Belvedere, Shonbrun, Maria Theresia monument and finally I had a chnce to do some shopping in Mariahilfstrasse :). Just about the right time for all sales before X-Mass. Not far from the hotel is the pedestrian zone Kertner Strasse in which is the big church Stpehansdom locarted at, little bit ahead is Statsopera...Simply the city is amazing and I promised my self we will do this again.
The city has the rings and this hotel in located in the hart of the Vienna, inner ring 1.

Room Tip: We had a room at the first floor facing the streat and it was not a problem. Not to loud, just great...

My wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Capricorno twice - 2012 and 2013. It's located on Schwedenplatz, (which is on the Ringstrasse) right next to the Schwedenplatz U-bahn station and tram stops. The airport bus goes from nearby, too.

The hotel looks somewhat unprepossessing from the outside (a modern, concrete edifice), but inside is neat, immaculately clean and warm. The staff are friendly, and the majority of them speak good English. They will do their best to find a member of staff you speaks your language if you can't handle the Osterreicher Deutsche.

The rooms are reasonably sized, warm, perfectly clean, and have fully equipped bathrooms. All have TV and air conditioning. There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel (ask at reception for a ticket with connection details) and there is a computer and printer in the lobby that anyone can use free of charge to print out their airline tickets and Boarding Cards.

One thing to note - if you're at the front of the hotel, and you leave the window open, you'll hear the trams and the traffic. The double-glazing completely eliminates this noise, however.

Breakfast is a "serve yourself" European buffet, and can really set you up for the day!

The location really cannot be bettered - the centre of the city is a ten-minute walk away, there are U-bahn and tram stops outside the door, and the City Airport Train "CAT" is just one U-bahn stop away.

This is a comfortable hotel with fairly standard features but a million dollar location.
Subway train across the road.
Trams out the front door.
Can walk or one stop train arriving from the airport on the city train.
On edge of Vienna Central being able to walk around the central Vienna.
Easy access to christmas markets.
The supplied breakfast started the day with a great selection of foods.
All staff were very helpful.
Rooms are bit dated but are quite large, clean and comfortable.
I would stay here again.
Thanks Vienna

We recently spent two nights at this hotel in between tours. The location is nice and central and public transport is almost at the door. The main shopping district is only a short walk from the hotel. We usedd the subway from the main railway station to the hotel and found this a very easy experience. As other reviewers have noted, the rooms are a little small compared to other hotels - however, the furnishings were good and modern.
Room was on the first floor and was very quiet.Staff were friendly and we enjoyed the included breakfast. Good, hotel and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor which looked out onto the side street and was very quiet.

This is a nice hotel, in a very handy location. A little old fashioned décor but otherwise very good condition. Was in a twin room so more than adequate. Buffet breakfast was included - really good. Great selection of food items, definitely not a typical continental breakfast.

Room Tip: Twin room was very nice size

Let start with the front view, despite to figure with 4 stars the real rate cannot be higher than 2 stars... the small entrance shows already what is inside.
It's like you'll be on the movie "Being John Malkovich" small doors, small rooms, small bathrooms... all small... the horror of claustrophobic persons.
Unfortunately the winter didn't arrive stronger this middle of October'13 then they are having hot days with temperatures going up to 24~26 Celsius degrees, nevertheless they have shut down the air conditioning system anyway... so when you call the reception the easy answer is "open the window" without caring with external noise coming from the main avenue.
Making the long story short, after half hour I have asked to checked out.

Dear ROBINSON G,

We read attentively your review and are sorry that our Hotel Capricorno did not meet your expectations. Since the room you were allocated was too warm, we offered a room change, which you have not accepted.

As you wrote this middle of October was unlikely warm and therefore the rooms have been unexpectedly warmed up, at a period where our air-conditioning system is already shut down.

Your important information has already been discussed and a solution has been found. For future temperature problems, we will have the possibility to switch on the air-conditioning manually.

We thank you for steering our attention to this matter and regret that we could not convince you. With pleasure we look forward to your next Vienna trip and hope to get a further chance in a Schick Hotel of your choice.

Best regards

We recently spent 3 nights at the Capricorno. The location was great. We bought the Vienna three day pass but didn't get our monies worth for transportation...although the transit was just out the door. We walked every where. Lot of great restaurants close by and just half a block from a popular ice cream parlour. We spent one evening at the nearby JAZZ Club ... you need to get there early to get a seat. The room and bathroom were clean and the beds comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
