Upon arriving at the hotel Allegro we were dismayed to see the exterior displaying ripped canopies, scruffy exterior and, worst of all, situated at a main crossroads and an exit from a flyover. True it was directly opposite a railway station but the situation was not good.
The room was quiet (providing you kept the windows firmly sealed. The bathroom was clean and modern although the shower was so tiny (no bath) you could not bend down to wash your feet! The bed needed replacing as it bulged over the edge of the base. The carpet had been cleaned but should have been thrown out. It has been patched up and sewn together. The freestanding furniture had obviously been put together by someone who did not know what they were doing. The hotel is obviously being refurnished and when we questioned this we were told 'But we cannot close while this is being done!
But we should have been warned that it was a good 20 minute tram ride from the cetnre of Vienna and totally unsuitable if you wanted to stroll around the hotel at night.
We paid the same price as for a chain hotel in the centre of Vienna. We will be complaining to our travel agents as we thought it totally unsuitable for a short stay in this beautiful city.
On the plus side for the Allegro; The breakfast room has been totally modernised; the breakfast was very good and plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We have travelled all over the world and are usually quite accommodating but the bed had certainly seen better day.s
There was also no instructions in case of fire in the room.

Not in walking distance to center, must take tram!
Rooms large, but dated. Amenities not 3 star.
But worse, during our stay the European soccer was on and we were charged outrageous prices (EUR 200/night). Other hotels did not escalate their prices like this, and when sent a formal complaint and request for refund, it was flat out denied! Aircondition died as well. This hotel does not believe in customer service. Cannot recommend it, better deals closer to center.

Outstanding experience. Pleasant walking distance to the center and attractions. Rooms are exceptionally spacious, clean, and comfortable, with added amenities we didn’t expect. Hotel is very elegant, staff was polite and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful and kept us going for most of the day. Well beyond what we expected for price and star rating.

Hotel Allegro was the best we could wish for.
The rooms are very spacious and well equipped. The breakfast is delicious: a nice velrty of fresh and tasty foods and beverages.
The hote is very clean.
We also enjoyed the bar and the internet corner. The location is perfect - easy to get from the hotel to any part of Vienns - either by transportation or even by foot. The staff is so nice and welcoming. Also - this hotel is great for families with kids. Yeah
! it's great value for the money and even more. We will definitely return to that hotel!
