“Interesting Plaza”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

There are two attractions in this plaza. The Anker Clock was designed by the painter Franz von Matsch on the Gothic arch of the Anker Insurance Company. At noon several historical figures file past to the sound of music.

The Nuptial Fountain is located at Hoher Markt. Charles VI had it built. The designer was Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. It shows St. Joseph and Mary, and above them is a representation of the Trinity.

“Go see it but don't bother to wait till 12:00”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2012

As an art nouveau monument it's interesting. But the defile at 12:00 is quite indifferent, the music is terrible and you see nothing you couldn't imagine yourself. It's not like the astronomical clock in Prague.

“Stop by at noon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

This is a big clock which occupies a bridge connecting 2 buildings along Hohermarkt street, you can't miss it. Visited at 12 noon to see all 12 historical figures march, which included Marcus Aurelius, Joseph Haydn, and Prince Eugen, among others. The figures move slowly and it takes ~15 minutes for the full "parade." It feels too slow after awhile, but if you've got 15 minutes, it won't hurt to stay.

It's an interesting clock to see, and makes a good attraction to check out in the area. An easy detour from the Hofburg complex or St Stephan's, and requires only a glance from the street. You probably wont miss much if you didn't watch at noon and just saw 1 or 2 figures.
