“Great hotel building! Friendly contemporary vibe.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

Very nice building. The lobby leads into a riad style courtyard with the rooms on several floors overlooking. Spacious and comfortable room with good retro furniture. Nice bar/restaurant serving good Philippine food. Nice staff. Lively area but quiet in the evening.

We stayed 8 days in this hotel for a business trip. Usually this would be an exhausting experience but here we felt home and comfortable enough to recharge our batteries. We liked what they did with the place, mixing traditional and modern styles. There is a restaurant offering great food and they sometimes open their yard to local initiatives. This is great as it allows visitor to blend with the locals.
Would definitely stay again!

Booked this hotel based on other reviews and it exceeded our expectations. The room was very comfortable and clean. In fact, much cleaner than at 5 star hotel we stayed in while in Malta. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very good and there was plenty to choose from, and the buffet was kept well stocked at all times. The location is also ideal. Short walk to the tram stop, 20 to 30 min. walk to the Museumsquartier and the Hofburg Palace, 10min walk to the stores on Mariahilfer Strasse. All in all, we had a excellent stay.

We booked this hotel at the last minute, because we wanted to be near the Museumquartier, where we wanted to check some exhibitions. Although the pictures looked a bit nicer than reality, this is a nice hotel.
Rooms and bathroom were clean enough and nicely furbished (although the carpet in the living room may be replaced - maybe it is just me not liking carpets). Breakfast is served until late morning, which suits us late sleepers quite well.
When the weather is nice, I guess the bar in the hotel courtyard makes more sense than in winter.
On the downside, although the hotel is advertised to have free wifi, it barely worked in our room because signal was very weak. Really frustrating, especially since this can be solved easily.

Room Tip: We were staying in a suite which could accommodate 4 persons easily, and even has a kitchenette in t...

Hotel am Brillantengrund is a comfortable accommodation in a quiet side street with easy access to central Vienna and the West Bahnhof. Andrea, who tends the front desk, is an exceptional receptionist - friendly and helpful., even to the point of searching in her purse for cold medication for us. The rooms are on the small side, but ours sported a lovely old chandelier! One drawback is that there are no room-darkening curtains. We were located on the second story of the courtyard with a large window. Every time someone walked along the walkway during the night, the lights would automatically turn on and shine in our room.

We chose this hotel based on other reviews and even if it wasn't a bad experience, there were several things that disappointed us.
On the good side, the location is very good and the building is really charming, specially the inner patio.
The breakfast also is pretty good yet if you dare to ask for anything to the personnel (like if more eggs will be coming out), be prepared for a blunt response.
The room was really nice and clean, but the bathroom on the other hand was not throughly clean, the shower wasn't working properly and (pretty disgusting) the disposable cups had been obviously used, but had been rinsed and placed back on the shelf.
On regard of the service, while the young lady that did our check in was truly kind, the madam that checked us out, and that I assumed was probably the landlady, was rude and unpleasant.
I think it would be easy for this place to make it a full excellent experience, but for their price some details can't be dismissed, and kindness to your guests shouldn't be an optional.

I chose this hotel mainly because of its location in the 7th district of Vienna, which is one of my favorite districts in the city. Having lived just around the corner from the hotel in Westbahnstrasse for many years in the 90's I wanted to experience the intimacy of a small hotel in a familiar neighborhood. My brother who lives in Vienna told me that there are supposed to be around 700 restaurants in this district alone, plenty of great shopping, museums, an organic juice bar, a whole grain organic bakery. He also told me that during the summer this hotel features a lovely courtyard restaurant with plenty of flowers and good food. During my stay the courtyard was open in the evenings with hot drinks being served under large umbrellas and heating lamps. The disco ball provided a nice retro feel, which generally permeates the whole place. Only thing I didn't like so much was the retro feeling in the shower, where the 70's fixtures with plastic shower head kept somewhat falling apart. Also all hotel rooms face the courtyard, and hereby are susceptible to noise and sometimes cigarette smoke wafting up into your room. Nonetheless I very much enjoyed my stay and would probably stay there again.
