Our party of five had three rooms in this hotel and were absolutely pleased with our choice. Despite some of the reviews on Trip Advisor being somewhat negative, we were attracted by the sense of style and the location. We were not disappointed: the decor was atmospheric and attractive and the three rooms we had were all spacious, clean and well-appointed. We found the rooms quiet too, as they all had thick double-glazing. The breakfasts were also good and I was impressed how calmly and efficiently the catering staff dealt with the unnecessary rudeness from (I am ashamed to say) some other British guests when there was a heavy 'rush' at breakfast time. The lady behind the bar was also a beacon of tolerance. I found the front-desk staff very friendly and helpful. It always makes a difference if you learn a few simple phrases of German rather than shouting loudly in English, I find..... I would definitely stay there again.

Hated this hotel. It is very old and needs a good sprucing up. Our room was dark and I felt like I was staying in a bat cave. The ceilings are very high, we got no sun light in the room at all, and it appeared to be very grungy (at one point I dropped something on the floor behind the side table next to the bed and was very dismayed to find a ring of dirt and grime that was out of the reach of the vacuum, clinging to the baseboards). I refused to walk on the carpet bare foot. The bathroom was not great, you had to enter and shut the door to get to the sink. The location is like being on 14th Street in NY, a main shopping street, very crowded and noisy. We had a little camp of homeless teenagers and their dogs living on the corner just outside the front door of the hotel for the first 2 days. Does have one free computer in the lobby for guests to use.

Great location and a nice hotel in the old style. The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and - as asked - a quiet room to the inner yard. Breakfast was good with lots of things to choose from. Will stay there again next time I'm in Vienna.

The hotel is fine and you can get a good deal for your money. The location is superb. But just forget about the staff. The receptionist could not care less about guests. Everyone in there is extremely unpolite. Service is weak (on a very good day) and breakfast is extremely poor (actually, you should consider yourself lucky if you can find a clean table for breakfast). Recommendation: forget about the Kummer, Vienna is just too nice for this hotel.
