“Great hotel with the personal touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

I would highly recommend this hotel. I stayed here for one night with colleagues and was consistently impressed by the building, facilities, food and helpfulness of the staff.

The room itself was spacious, clean and well appointed and the breakfast perfect. The best thing about this hotel is undoubtedly the staff, who could not have made us feel more welcome. All staff that we dealt with were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

We stayed at Kummer Hotel for 3 nights.
Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The only downside was the shower area that was too small comparing to the whole bathroom size.
We arrived close to lunch time and was recommended by the manager to have lunch at their restaurant. We were a bit reluctant, but accepted his recommendation and must say that it was the right decision. The food was very nice with a good price and saved our time to have to find somewhere to eat, when we were hungry and tired after a long journey.
Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of breads, fresh fruits and a delicious strong coffee (the best one I have had in a Hotel for ages).
Staff was polite and efficient.
Location was very convenient with an underground station just in front of the hotel and very nice shops around. It is also close to the center and good for people taking the train to Salzburg as the train station is just 2 stops from the hotel.
I would definetly stay in this hotel again if I visit the beautiful Vienna again in the future.

This hotel was recommended by a colleague and was all we could ask for. The Staff were helpful, room was a good size and kept beautifully clean. Breakfast was brilliant. The hotel itself was right on top of a metro station, as well as being on the main shopping street, so was brilliantly located for getting around the city.

We had booked a weekend in the hotel and arrived via an early morning flight from Heathrow. Sensibly we had booked tickets for the Cat train from the airport into the city - a 16 minute ride and the only time in the whole weekend that an inspector looked at tickets! We bought a 72 hour travel card from a machine in the station and it was fantastic value. All weekend we hoped on and off trams and used the underground to travel about this beautiful city.

On arrival at the hotel our room wasn't ready - but it was early ( 10 o'clock). We left our cases in the office and went off for a wander.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the male receptionist (who did remind us slightly of Basil Fawlty - tried hard but seemed to be a little stressed) insisted on carrying our cases to the room where he showed us how to work the air con system.
There is wifi but only free in the reception area and public rooms. The internet is available in bedrooms via a cable and payment! Unusual in the hotels we have stayed in recently.

Breakfast was fine - plenty of choice - particularly wide range of breads and real orange juice. The hotel has recently started to do evening meals but we didn't try these - too busy using Vapiano's - a fab range of Italian restaurants.
The rooms are very clean and quite large ; we had a corridor leading into our bedroom making it feel much bigger. From the window we could see the shopping street below. Room was big enough to have a double bed, 2 easy chairs, a settee and various tables and units. No tea making facilities but a mini bar.
On check out watched the staff helping visitors with directions, taxis etc - really helpful.

Enjoyed our stay and would go back.

So centrally located in the middle of Mariahilfer Strasse,.The breakfast was a huge spred and served by attentive and polite staff. Rooms were good and we enjoyed the harvest festival on the streets ouside and at the alstaad in the evening.Though I misplaced a painting bought for my daughter from Prague --while we were changing rooms,

Hotel Kummer is a nice building, but it is located on the biggest busiest shopping street in Vienna, Mariahilferstrasse. Noise from the street, all night long, makes sleeping very difficult. The room was nice enough, but the toilet stank up the whole room, bad enough to make you gag: not a question of cleanliness, but a problem with the system, so it could not be fixed. But the most unexpected problem was the lack of internet access. We were coming from a little town in the Alps, a modest hotel with free internet access in every room. In hotel Kummer you have to pay, or use the free 30 minutes of very slow connection in the lobby! A system that would have been a bad joke even in the last century! The hotel manager was sympathetic, but could not help.

Room Tip: Rooms looking out onto the 2 streets make sleeping impossible: busses, cars and young people having...
