“Nice stay at de France”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW via mobile

The hotel is one which in its day was possibly a grand 5 star hotel once but has allowed itself to morph into a good 3 star. Nothing wrong with that as room rates reflect this at around €120 night which is what u would expect for city centre hotel of this standard

The rooms are spacious with high ceilings. Quite old fashioned but this can add to charm. One slight complaint is the tv was very small and about 30 years old!

Very good location right next to the metro station, plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and about a 15 minute stroll to the major sights of district 1.

The reception staff were great, very helpful, smiley and efficient.

I found this hotel to be at the lower end of 5 star hotels. But we had a very good deal on the price so I feel it was worth it. The room was spacious, very clean, nice bathroom. The restaurant was a bit pricey for dinner as well as the buffet breakfast which was not included in our rate. McDonalds was just down the street and lots restaurant alternatives in the area. The negative was that our room was extremely warm even though it was near freezing outside. We left the windows open day and night and finally the next night it cooled down. Our friends in the neighboring room had a normal temperature.

In a scale of ten I'd give it eleven! Though not a clearly 5 star hotel - I was not too happy with the blind window and the noise insulation of the room, I have nothing but good words to say! The spot is a 10- 40 minutes walk from almost all sightseings within the 'ring' and if you are not a keen walker you can either get the tram or tube or bus right next to the hotel! There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars nearby and you can always trust the staff at the reception whose suggestions prooved excellent! The staff was extremely polite and obliging, the breakfast was very reach and the hotel-restaurant served quality cuisine. I would definately stay there again!!!

Room Tip: Dont peak a room very near to the elevators, the noise is annoying! Ask for a room with a view to th...

Stayed here for 3 nights over the Easter break with friends, we loved the hotel. Rooms are a good size with high ceilings and the beds are comfy. Dressing area and bathroom both great. Our room was a tad warm but you can always open the window. Breakfast, wow there is defo something for everyone, smoked salmon, sushi, cheeses, meats, all the usual cooked, fresh fruits, yoghurts, cakes, breads etc etc even sparkling wine, make sure your hotel room comes with breakfast included otherwise it is 26 euros per day each. Fab brekkie. The hotel is very central and is in walking distance of all the major sites in Vienna and if you don't fancy walking there is a tube line at the end of the road. Had a great stay here

Room Tip: 3rd floor and above

It is not 5* hotel.
Elegant large building hearth of city. Very close to everyting, what You need, posicion very great.
But... The room looks like pansion. 30 years old small television, bed was not comfortabel, very similar bathroom, not special all. Style?
Wi-Fi is not working very well.
Breakfast just excellent.

Ideal location adjacent to an underground station but all major sights are within walking distance. The very grand City Palace where the Spanish Lippenzer horses perform is just a 6-8 mins stroll. The hotel is slightly tired but otherwise it is exceptionally clean and our room was very large with 2 bathrooms! This made the trip so much more comfortable as my husband and I had 'his & hers' facilities. There is a good restaurant although not many people use it so lacks in atmosphere, which is a shame as the food was very good. At the back of the hotel is an excellent Japanese sushi bar - the fish was just sublime and watching the owner prepare the sushi was very entertaining. Breakfast is held in a first floor dining room and is almost over the top. There is everything on the buffet you can think of; hot choices (eggs, sausages etc), omelettes made to order, cold meats and fish, fruits (fresh & dried), yoghurts, breads, preserves, juices, hot drinks and even fizz! If you could eat enough it would last you all day. The staff were all very friendly and English widely spoken, which can sometimes be difficult in Vienna.

Room Tip: Be aware that Wi-Fi is slow but when on holiday you shouldn't need it so much!

An elegant hotel situated in a perfect location, close to the major city sites, and next to the metro station.
The rooms are big as well as the bathroom.. well heated with all the amenities hair-dryer, ironing, etc. contrary to the bed's size which wasn't convenient and a bit small relatively to the room.
The staff was so professional and helpful.
The breakfast is delicious with different varieties.
I definitely recommend this hotel
