“A classic hotel - very good location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

A really classic hotel - big room, really good breakfast. The bathroom was itself as big as typical hotel rooms in Paris.. :) Quiet, WLAN worked well. And couldnt' be more centrally located. There is a PC and printer at the lobby to print out boarding passes. Only "nag" are the room doors..classic keys. I'd prefer access cards for some odd reason.

Our recent stay at the Hotel Astoria was fabulous. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a larger room with a balcony that faced the main pedestrian walk. We were only in Vienna for 2 days, but the hotel location made all of our outings and tours very easy and accessible. This was probably the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. The bathrooms are impecable. Front desk staff are extremely helpful.
I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Vienna.

This was a beautiful traditional hotel. The room was small, but big enough. The bathroom was huge. Our room had a great balcony, so the views were fantastic. I will say that the area is really noisy on Saturday nights. However, any hotels on the pedestrian district are going to have this problem. Breakfasts at the hotel are not included but we found the spread to be very impressive. If you would like coffee at breakfast just flag someone down, they will make you a fresh pot. The lift is small, but it works. We really enjoyed the free opera screenings a block down at the Opera. Also, the Hot Dog/Happy Noodle stand right outside. The staff was very nice, the rooms were spotless. If I am ever lucky enough to be in Vienna again, I would stay here.

Room Tip: The second floor had balconies for almost all of the rooms

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect!! It is in the heart of the city. Most major attractions are only a 5-10 minute walk. The Hofburg Complex is only a couple of blocks, the Albertina , Opera House and St. Stephens , Uban, Tram and bus stations are all convenient. The hotel staff is very helpful and are very willing to help with directions. It is right on the pedestrian street. Great shopping and retaurants located right out the front door. The room was a nice size.

A quality traditional European hotel in a excellent position. Easy to walk to lots of location. St Stephens, homburg opera house are all within 10 min by foot. U BahnCard ( tube) close by as well. Excellent food and shopping on the door stop. Do not stay if you want a v, modern hotel.

In 2009 I was lucky enough to go to Vienna to celebrate Christmas and New Years, and what a place to spend the holiday period.
I stayed at the hotel Astoria, convieniently located at the star of the mall/shopping area of Stephans Platz ( actually its 10 meters down a side street but so close it doesnt count as a detour).
They multi lingual staff are friendly and efficient, free internet was provided and great to touch base with friends at home, though only one computer meant that you may need to wait to use it.
Bedrooms comfortable and very warm, we had an inner room so the window view wasnt the best ..it opened to the inner court yard so no true view.
Pillows too soft, but then I'm not a fan of european pillows nd the bes was to soft for my liking. The only negative was the pokey bathroom and shower, not to friendly for the mobility impaired.
breakfasts were delicious and more-ish esp the smoked salmon ahh the decadence!
So if you're going to Vienna and you want somewhere to stay within easy walking distance to top tourist sights or transport, with a fantastic austrian/russian cafe next door Hotel Astoria is the place to stay, burt BYO pillows if like me you dont like the european style.

Room Tip: ask fotr a suite and if scenic views are a priority ask for an outside room, otherwise you may get a...

Stayed here with my family and really enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are nice and spacious and so are the bathrooms. We had taken 3 rooms and were all inter-connected. We went during summer so it was quite hot but we were provided with table-fans so it was fine. The breakfast spread was excellent. The staff are great too specially the front office personnel.
The location is wonderful. Great buzz all around with lots of Cafes, souviner shops, Street performers, etc. Its at the edge of a NOMOZO (Pedestrian only) so you can just walk around and take it all in. There is a Starbucks 2 mins away and a Burger King too. Also a street food counter which serves some amazing wraps. One of the stops of the Hop on Hop off bus service is a 5 min walk from the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Casino have a great overview of the pedestrian area.
