We recently stayed at the Austria Trend Europa Wien, which is in a lovely part of the city center, and found the executive room to be quite good. Being mostly pleased with our stay, we'd consider a return to this hotel in the future.
Booking and Check-in: Reservations made through www.booking.com. Check-in was expedient and we were on our way up to our room in less than five minutes after having arrived. Staff were also friendly and attentive throughout our stay.
Location: Hotel was very well situated in the middle of the old town, just 4-5 minutes walk from Stephansplatz (U3) Station exit. Attractions on all sides as well as the nice square right outside the hotel entrance.
Room: Executive Suite rooms have separate lift and smart card access. Room to be plenty spacious with two contemporary chairs, reclining sofa, desk with work chair and plenty of closet clothing storage space. Room features included a coffee and tea station (replenished 3 of the 4 days), standard fridge and drink/snack standard TV, mostly German channels but one English program found - CNN News, safe and excellent wifi connection throughout our stay.
Bathroom: A spacious bathroom came with the room, it was well-stocked with toiletries as well, fixtures worked fine, shower pressure was nice, warm water throughout.
Lobby Bar: Ground floor lobby bar was comfortable, offering a fair range of drinks and some non-alcoholic beverages. Had a very good margarita, something we rarely find in Hong Kong and nice Reisling.
Executive Lounge: Access to a decent executive lounge came with executive room booking. Lounge included coffee and tea-making facilities, fruit juices, fruits, nuts, cake selections, breads as well as blu/brie cheeses and smoked salmon. This was a nice little snack selection. The seating area was far from luxurious, a bit more like a business conference room with decent tables and chairs - which suited us just fine. One computer (not sure if internet was set up or not) was found in the lounge. In the end, not a better business center/executive lounge facility but it served its purpose.
Beds: Two single mattresses instead of a double or queen, not preferred made up our the bed in our suite. Mattresses were a bit too firm for our liking and pillows too soft so be ready to bunch the pillow a bit each night to avoid a neck strain in the morning. This happened to one of us a couple times unfortunately.
Safe: was a smaller than we prefer, only providing enough room for paperwork, small digital cameras and iPad sized device. Regular camera bodies, laptops and similarly sized equipment don't fit within.
Executive Lounge Availability: Unfortunately, there were business conferences taking place during the first couple days of our stay, meaning the exec. lounge wasn't actually available for use. Would have been nice to have notified guests of this upon check-in.
Overall, a couple inconveniences with the bed and the safe but everything else was as expected, while the service and location were very good during our stay. In the end, we were generally pleased with Austria Trend Hotel Europa Wien and would be happy for a repeat stay at this hotel.
