“A pleasure to be there even if slightly disappointed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We visit this hotel annually and has been doing this for the last 15 years. There have been some changes in this hotel over the years. They have made a lot of renovations and there are new young staff added to the traditional people we used to see there. As always this hotel has kept its hospitality and care. We had an incident this time as the girl at the check in did not ask us of the way we wanted to settle our hotel bill and immediately deducted the bill plus extras to our credit card without telling us although we wanted to pay in cash. Even when we paid cash we still had to wait for the block on our card to be released and this was a bit inconvenient as we planned to do some serious shopping in the lovely Vienna. The matter was solved next day and that was it. We have sent an email to the manager of the hotel saying our opinion and he was polite to reply on our email promptly. It is nice to feel that they do care of their customers and do not neglect your complaint. We say again when in Vienna go to Hotel Sacher

We will be back to Hotel Sacher in Wien. We had the most fantastic stay. Yes, it's a lot of money but well worth it (depending if you want the hotel to be part of the holiday or see it just as accommodation). Staff is very attentive, the interior of the hotel is beautiful, the room very luxurious and I loved the chocolate scented toiletries. We stayed for three nights - tried the Sacher Stube (lovely staff) and had a drink every night in the Blue Bar. We didn't try the breakfast as we wanted to spend money on lunch and dinner rather than an all consuming breakfast at €35 per person. Finally, the chaffeur of the car bringing us back to the airport was very charming and informative.

Stunning rooms with a chandelier and exceedingly comfortable bed. TV in the bathroom mirror, heated marble bathroom floors - very luxurious. Gorgeous spa with 3 different types of saunas - but it is a nude unisex area just so there are no surprises. You get a little sacher cake on arrival and on departure which is cute. It is a rococo style hotel that feels like a palace. It's gorgeous but slightly impersonal. Location is perfect - next to metro, opera house, 5 minutes walk to Stephenplatz, it's just perfect. The price tag is beyond hefty - over 500$ per night for the cheapest room, but it's the best hotel in Vienna.

The Hotel Sacher In Vienna is undeniably a good even very good hotel. Whether it reaches the pinnacle of hospitality in Vienna is another matter. The "cross branding" with its eponymous chocolate cake gives it a huge advantage (arguably a unique one - after all how many hotels are less famous than the cake that was originally named after them ?). The rooms are clean and spotlessly well-maintained. Getting in to the rooms involves those new electronic key-fob mechanism which are a nightmare to use (even the lifts have them) and the guests need elephantine sized pockets to hold the keys and fobs. Unstructured pictures of famous and infamous guests line the reception and corridors and interesting juxtapositions testify to both a glorious and not so glorious past. For example of the thousand or so of photographs and testaments of thanks lining the walls Kurt Waldheim's photograph is placed next to that of Ed Koch. Maybe when they re-decorate the entrance they will remove all the photographs and arguably contrived "testaments and words of thanks" - after all every Leading Hotel of the World will have had many hundreds of thousands of visitors (even millions) over a century and many will have been famous or infamous - but banks of fading photographs of "c" and even "d" list historical celebrities don't make for welcoming interior decoration profiles ! Other niggles include having chocolate scented shampoos and soap, most people eat chocolate they don't necessarily want to cover themselves in it ! On the plus side the breakfast buffet is superb, the service impeccable and the staff extremely polite and attentive. Room service is also good. The location of the hotel could not be better. All in all a good hotel that is well run but in need of changing the ambiance and interior decoration in short order.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have a good view

Opposite the Opera House and so close to the historic palaces and museums, this hotel has a super location for a short stay in beautiful Vienna. Our room was very good, plenty of space, comfortable bed and a regal bathroom. The public spaces in the hotel are a little cramped and very period in style. Not to everyone's taste. Service was good and friendly except on two days the breakfast waitress forgot to bring the requested second pot of tea. The concierges were most helpful in booking restaurants and concerts. Daily supplies of miniature Sacher Torte's in the bedroom were well received and consumed!

Great place to stay! A bit overpriced but great location and Hotel!
Amazingly clean! Great taste and furnished in a great way.
Like I said: a bit overpriced for what it is, but the location, the staff, the food are all of great quality.
Perhaps better places but this is worth staying at least for a few nights.
We did love it!

Room Tip: Great place to stay as long as you have a great view as well.

A true Wien hotel experience. This is a very traditional hotel nicely decorated. It seems that you go back in time: you feel like a lord or a prince. The room was very spacious and clean with an enourmous king-size bed. The only not-so-good experience was at the reception: besides being too small, my room was not ready when it was supposed to. But at least I had an excuse to spend more time in this beatiful city. The hotel is very well located and walking distance from many interesting attractions.
