A very nice hotel, excellent location, but the service level does not meet the pricing expectations.

Check in took an extremely long time and there were at least 2 front desk employees spending more time looking at a printer and chatting then worrying about guests. Lobby seemed very busy with lots and lots of people and guest being ignored.

Breakfast 30 euros! It is nice, but again the service level was poor for that price range. 2nd pot of coffee meant you had to get up and find a server to help, dishes stayed on table until you got up, several tables were left for 15-20 minutes waiting to have the dishes removed. They want you in and out, not a relaxing vacation type breakfast. Buffet is nice, food is good, order hot food from a limited menu, but for 30 euros, expect better service.

Concierge - Isn't this by definition someone that should be helpful? Not in this case. Especially again for the price of rooms, I would have expected much better performance from the concierge. Asked for tickets to an event, was told not a problem, went to get tickets the morning of the event and they were still "waiting" on their ticket broker - went back to room and did it myself on line (internet is free, but local phone calls will cost!) They give you a small map of center and can give some directions, but don't count on top service even though you are paying top price.

Rooms were very nice, always clean. A little disappointed in the bath amenities.

Nice place, good location, beautiful city and great time of year to visit, just not sure that I would return as I think for this kind of money there is much better choices, like the Arcadia Hotel in Bratislava!

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!

Immaculate service, great couisine, lavish ambiente. The typical Japanese breakfast with salmon steak and miso soup is something that one rarely gets in Europe. But there is a European version of breakfast of course.

Exceptionally good food, even better than at Sacher or the Ring. Good sport facility, perfect location. It is all worth every penny paid. The only thing which I would personally appreciate, but it is missing is a spa/welness area, but this is in the sister hotel "The Ring" (right behind the corner).

Vienna’s cultural calendar is always brimming so we decided to join a group of friends in Vienna for a mid-winter break. Arriving for a four day stay at this cultural capital, we checked into the Grand Hotel Wien, a lovely Belle Epoque hotel with plenty of old world charms, but with the most state-of-the-art high tech equipment. Located directly on the Ringstrasse it is perfectly convenient for both the historic center of the city and the Opera House (just doors away). We rushed off to see St. Stephen's Gothic Cathedral in the heart of Vienna's old city; it is considered one of the most beautiful landmarks in Europe. After a lovely time strolling the shopping streets, we stopped in at Do & Co for a glass of champagne and the best views of St. Stephens just dusted with snow.
Back at the hotel in our very large plush five-star rooms, besides having very tall ceilings they are extraordinarily grand with a very comfortable king bed. The relaxing muted tones had us lulled to sleep in no time.
After a champagne breakfast in the Grand Cafe - this ample buffet is offered to all guests; we got a Vienna Card from the Concierge and right outside the hotel's door we could ride the tram that travels the circular route of the Ringstrasse. With this card we were able to ride all transportation in the city, get into museums and other cultural sites. We were off to the Imperial Palace - the Hofburg, where you can admire the splendor and magnificence of the daily life of the noblest family of the Habsburg monarchy. Then a visit the Albertina for collections that represent the imperial family’s passion for art.
Returning to the hotel with chilly feet, the warm heated marble of the bathroom floor reminded me again -- this was what five-star was about! After a hot bath it was off to the Opera and then we returned for our gourmet dinner at Le Ciel - it stood up to its award winning reputation! FYI - they also have a top notch Japanese restaurant offering Kaiseki and a sushi Brunch on weekends.
You will experience an extraordinary adventure here in Vienna and there is something special about staying in a hotel that has maintained the top standards for 136 years. They have long welcomed royalty and a list of stars -- and though nowhere near Grand Duke status, we were treated just a regally -- with true Viennese hospitality. We danced away with our gift of a special Guglhupf cake! looking forward to returning....soon.

Stayed in the Grand Hotel in Vienna for 5 nights and was really pleased. Even though I had some trouble checking in because they had given my room away to someone with a similar last name and checking out because of computer problems, I found the staff to be extremely accommodating and the facilities fantastic. My only complaint was the small size of the gym which was inadequate for a hotel this size. But its scale and charm are definitely in keeping with the old Vienna that most people (I think) want to experience.
