We enjoyed two day tours with Vienna a la carte, Budapest and Vienna, and we particularly enjoyed our Budapest tour. Johann is an experienced guide who gave us attentive service the entire trip, making sure we were comfortable and checked in on what we wanted to see and in what order, ensuring we had appropriate breaks and lunch/shopping wherein the trip we wanted. The city is wonderful, and seeing it so efficiently was truly a treat.
Prague was a less-favorite city, but again seeing it via private tour is not only efficient but, given the cost of hotel and train and the inconvenience of indirect train routes, it is a better deal to hire a private company. Our guide from Vienna a la carte was knowledgeable, but we were left in the care of a Czech guide was in the city. We had a very well-laid tour of the city from the castle down to the shopping district, but it was brisk, so you would be surprised how quickly your day goes in Prague. If you love shopping, the end of the tour is a treat, as the guide leaves you at a restaurant with charming local cuisine nearby plenty of shops, pointing out famous Czech crystal and other local treasures.
Some of our favorite parts of our trips had nothing to do with the actual city tours at all, from Max's personal knowledge of Bundesland and the vineyards to Johann's ability to communicate in Hungarian. Each guide made sure we had a halfway stop into the cities, for a bathroom break and a quick bite to eat.
We very much appreciated the customer service provided by Ulrich, who has a very obvious hands-on approach to managing his company. If we had an issue, he took care of it right away, and that is something you don't find much any more. We would recommend Vienna a la Carte without hesitation and hope to use them again in the future.
