Description: We are located in the first district of Vienna between St. Stephen's Cathedral and the city park. Our chef and his team prepare with passion and craftsmanship delicious Italian specialties. The fresh preparation of food is for us a matter of course, as well as a changing menu. Whether the evening by candlelight or sunlight during the day, we pay attention to your culinary convenience six days a week. In this special atmosphere, we complete comfort and modernity. All friends of Italian cuisine are well received at The Ristorante "Al Borgo".

“My new dining room in Vienna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

Being a Londoner who loves Italy I am glad to have found my "little Italy" for my Vienna leisure or business trips. This is one of those places where I was not sure if I should write a review as you'd like to keep it as your secret. Well, the number of good reviews here shows I am not the only one who might think so!
Have a good look in advance where it is located.. it took me some time to find it (even tough it enjoys a location in the city center). Once you found it expect a comfortable atmosphere, a great host with a very charming and humorous team, fantastic food and a very good wine selection. My wife and I felt like regulars even though it was our first visit. As for the food, just have a look at the few impressions attached - they should be self-explanatory.
We have some great Italian restaurants back in London, too (just talking about those managed by Italian families). Nowhere have we felt so much like being in Italy like in this place in Vienna. I promise you, you will enjoy it.

“Lovely Italian in the centre of Vienna”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Restaurant was very busy on a Wednesday night and unfortunately there was a mix up with our booking. Apologies were given along with a couple of glasses of prossecco which we sat at the bar and drank till our table was ready. Food and wine was very good, and the service was very friendly and jovial.

“disappointing flavours”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

The homemade duck pate with thinly sliced veal lacked flavour - and some crispy bread with it would have helped. The wild boar was stringy and lacked the depth of flavour shown when I had the same dish in Florence. The panna cotta with raspberry coulis was well executed and tasted great.

“Great Italian in Austria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

A great find, excellent menu and good affordable wines, Buzzy atmosphere, but relaxing, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Glad we booked ahead as it seemed busy on the Friday night of our visit.

“Good restaurant in a city with many”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

Craving Italian fare, we read Trip Advisor and selected Al Borgo. Good choice.

We were early for dinner but were warmly welcomed and given an excellent table. My pasta dish was Trophie with mushrooms and strips of roasted veal. Outstanding. The veal strips made a good pasta special. My 'secondo' was a sesame crusted tuna that was perfectly seared on the outside and pleasantly very rare on the inside -- a generous portion as well. My wife enjoyed her pasta as well along with her vitello al limone. It, too, was perfectly prepared.

If Italian is on your wish list in Vienna, you can't go wrong at Al Borgo.
