“Top Spot for Wandering Vienna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

I travelled to Vienna by boat from Bratislava, a great trip which was made even better by the fact that this hotel is 5 mins walk from the jetty landing, right in the heart of Vienna. It is literally a 5 minute walk to St. Stephen's Cathedral and then from there you can go on foot to most of the amazing places Vienna has to offer. The staff were courteous, the room was small but in good condition. The only downside was the heat, no air-conditioning but there was a fan on the desk.

If you are looking for a very well placed, reasonably priced clean and tidy hotel without the need to use transportation, this is for you. It's not the Hilton, but for the price I don't think you'll do any better. I was extremely happy with this choice. You will be able to see some examples of Vienna on the new app for iPad - 3d City Explorer. I took the photos on this trip.

Regards, Ken Knox.

Last year I stayed in this excellent hotel with a group of classical musicians and it was really great. This year it was even better as the refurbishments were so superb - their publicity says French flair and Italian elegance - add to that Viennese charm and friendly atmosphere!! When you enter the reception it is so charming - a really elegant sitting room with antique furniture, wonderful lighting and paintings and a fire on a cool evening. On the right is the reception with the most helpful, friendly staff I have ever encountered. The breakfast is very good and varied and the staff always looking for a way to help. The breakfast room becomes a delightful sitting room from 1 pm with a bar service. The bedrooms and bathrooms are modern and most comfortable and the areas from the lift to the rooms beautifully furnished with antiques and interesting paintings. The "crowing glory" is the roof garden with attractive flowers, comfortable furniture and a wonderful view. Next to that the library with a computer with wifi (this is throughtout the building) interesting books and comfortable furniture, The location is amazing. RIght in the heart of the Old Town but in a cul-de-sac - a quiet sanctuary. I am very much looking forward to returning next year and highly recommend this to anyone looking for a very special experience.. . .

The Kärntnerhof is a small hotel in Vienna's city center, next to St. Stephansdom. I was very happy with the welcome I received, the comfortable bed and the excellent breakfast. The hotel's in a quiet dead-end street in the vicinity of the major sights and the subway station St. Stephansdom.

Extremely accommodating and helpful. Great breakfast. Three women traveling together sharing a very comfortable size room and bath. I remember that the bed and bedding were top notch. Location was great, near St. Stephan's and water ferry. Vienna will be a return trip as well as this hotel.

A great little hotel from the moment that you walk in. All of the reception staff are very friendly, helpful and speak excellent English.
Excellent position, right in the old town, but in a quiet cul-de-sac.
Bedroom spacious, spotlessly clean, with a good bathroom.
Good choice at breakfast - cereals, meat, cheese, salad, some hot food, selection of breads and excellent tea and coffee.
Small roof terrace to sit out
Computer and printer for free use (helpful for airport check-in online).
Service excellent; when I couldn't work the room safe, someone came within five minutes to sort it out.

The location is unbeatable, right between Schwedenplatz (where there's a subway station, several tram car stops and the airport bus shuttle) and Stephansplatz, the turistic hub of the city. Still, because it's situated in a tiny alley, the hotl is very quiet, the rooms are big enough, comfy and very clean. The breakfast has a very good selection of items and the frontsdesk people are very helpful. There's also a nice little terrace on the top floor, good to unwind after a day of pounding the pavement of cultural sites. And there's free wifi in every room.
