“Very crowded, and toristy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

When over half of the city was destroyed in WW@, they allowed the builders to put "modern" buildings next to the old buildings, the result is a jarring mishmash of beautiful old, and ugly glass and steel buildings.

The opera is awesome, wonderful sculpture all around the city
However, the place is rather grey, cold stone is everywhere

“Lots to see”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

Lots of monuments and memorials. If you are into history, you'll be in your element. Franz Joseph seems to be quite popular. Beethoven's burial place is miles away.

“So much cleaner than Paris!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

This is a true, Imperial city, meant to awe the empire's lowly subjects. They've kept the massive buildings intact and they are a joy to see. The Hapsburg Palace is the center jewel, with massive library, Spanish Riding School and the Household Museum filled with gold- and silverware, copper cookery, porcelain dishes and Meissen candelabra. You really get a feeling for how the Emperors and Empresses lived.
