By chance, we passed Freiraum as we were searching for brunch on a Sunday morning. At first we felt a little put off as the staff gave the impression that they were just far too busy and crowded to accomodate us (though many tables were open), but we were shortly seated. In reality, this place is so popular for brunch that in fact most of the tables were reserved. Definitely call ahead for a reservation.
The food was fantastic, prices were middle of the road (I had an entree salad for €12) and the vibe was perfect. Modern, eclectic and interesting decor. Filled with hip, yet casual people - including the waitstaff who's dressed in their street clothes - groups of friends meeting for brunch and individuals on laptops enjoying the free wifi while they sip something from the vast drink menu including a huge variety of great coffee drinks and fresh juices. Though it's on the huge shopping street, it has a very local hotspot feeling.
