“Over the top fantasy land for gourmands/gourmets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Over the top, pricey fantasy land indeed. Want a truffle- only 890 Euros for 100 grams - caviar? what kind?; cheeses galore, prepared meats, fresh meats, wines, fresh fruits vegetables, fish, wine bar, cafe, and restaurant. Three floors of holy moley food over load.

The candy bar aisle has more kinds of high end chocolate than I thought existed ( a 75 foot row 7 feet high of just chocolate bars).

We just bought some cheese and nibblies there but do plan to go back for a meal just to indulge!.

Just walking through the place is a feast for the senses. Compared to the "same as every where else" hermes, movado, mont blanc etc shops, this is truly one of a kind and worth a side trip just to ogle. This is the shop they should put on cruise tours! Oh and if yo ucan't afford the truffles then go for the truffled cheeses, they are only about 7 euros per 100 grams.

“A bit pricey but worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

We had a dinner for 5 ppl and had to book 3 nights in advance for the fine dining restaurant on the second fllor. Not disappointed, the goose liver was awesome, other food such as the lobster, scallops , veal and beef steak were delicious but a tad too salty.

Service was tip top and staff were attentive. Only complaint however, was thAt the total bill came up to 288. We gave 300 and the waitress did not return any change but merely asked if she could keep the tips. We are well aware of the 10%tipping in europe, but being asians found that a bit strange.

“The world's best gourmet shop?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

Could be. Could be.

It covers 3 stories and is fronted by Cartier and located on the most elite shopping street in Vienna.

It's cafe out front, has one of the most beautiful and exclusive views in Vienna being only rivaled by Cafe Landtmann (owned by Julius Meinl).

A cheese counter that most likley exceeds anything you've ever seen before with over 400 to choose from.

Meats and sausages that rival the best of the best in the world.

They have excellent sushi on the 2nd floor and a wine shop in the cellar.

Be it chocolates through bbq sauce, you'll find a superb offering at Julius Meinl. A must stop after a hard day of shopping Cartier, Zegna, Chopard, etc.

Sit in the outdoor cafe and admire the opulence that drips from the surrounding buildings.

“Specialty Food Store”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

We didn't eat here, but found some things to buy that we weren't able to find anywhere else. Nice location near St. Stephens Church in a busy shopping area. It reminds me of the food sections of Harrod's in London. If gourmet food is what you want then stop by here.
