“When in vienna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

We spend in this place one week and most of the time, loved it. You have to ask for the room facing the street. These rooms are much larger, bright and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and so the blanket and sheets. The bathroom is very clean. Breakfast was nice and coffee and croissant was great. Above all the team is helpful in every way. We loved this place and for sure will come again.

Room Tip: room in the front are larger.

We almost always stay here when we are in Vienna. The rooms are spacious enough, comfortably furnished, clean and bright. The closets are enormous! Wifi works flawlessly. The owners and hosts, Andrea and Andreas are knowledgable and helpful in every respect. They helped us research, for instance, restaurants, and routes around the city. Breakfast -- breads, spreads, cereals, yogurts, fruit, juices, coffee and tea -- is self-served and eaten in one's room, as there is a very small reception area and no real lobby or eating area. The pension is located right off the Graben and close to the Stephansdom u-bahn station. In fact, all of the sights in the innerstadt are located within easy walking distance to this property. Vienna is literally at your fingertips! The rooms facing onto the street were a little bit noisy with traffic and construction, but by now the construction should be finished and the clip-clop of the
Fiaker horses just adds ambiance to your stay. Physically fit people will enjoy the stairs but there is also the vintage elevator for bringing you AND your luggage up to the pension.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room, ask for the one NOT on the street.

Perfect location, literally few steps from Graben, but still accessible by car! Car needs to be left in a public garage (nearest is Am Hof, 38 EUR/day). We were upgrade to the suite as all other rooms were occupied. Suite is really big, although no view to the street - only internal court. Entrance to the hotel from the street is not very obvious but the instructions we received from the hotel were perfect.
The property is the pension so do not expect typical hotel lobby and public spaces - just a reception and corridor, which is just enough. Always a lot of things to see in Vienna so you will not spend a lot of time in hotel anyway. Wifi worked with no problem!

Stayed there in a triple room beginning of October. The rooms are bright, spacy and really really clean. The bathroom was also big. The breakfast was nice (better than expected) with fresh warm croissants. But the best of all is the location. It is PERFECT! I was travelling with two persons over 65 and it was so easy to walk around and see the atractions. When somebody felt tired could just go for an hour to rest and then meet all again.
Andrea and Andreas are really helpful, with extra information and advices.
Highly recommended!

This is a lovely pension - rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. No views at the back but this really didn't matter given the price compared to other city centre hotels. Lots of storage, good sized bathroom and free Wifi. Helpful, friendly staff and a decent breakfast. There was no problem when we wanted to arrive early and leave bags, borrow an umbrella, get a map, ask about trains, and leave our bags for the day after checking out.

Turn right out of the front door and you're in the very heart of Vienna on the Graben, turn left and you're on your way to the Hofburg and the Museums Quarter. Perfect all round!

Room Tip: 1 & 8 are at the back (and good value). No view but also quiet, you get natural light and anywa...

Got to city center around 9:30am. Hotel is just off the Graben, which is a good thing because that street is really crowded and noisy. Hotel location is fantastic--close to everything. Check in at a und a is at 1400 but they let us into our room immediately. The room was clean, and great, and it did not smell like air freshener. It was just nice and clean. Front desk staff were friendly.

We thought the bed was just fine. And although we didn't sleep well, it wasn't because of the bed but simply because we were jetlagged.

The breakfast was good--croissants, cold cuts, cheese, jams, juice, milk, coffee. (I think there was cereal, too)

Free wi-fi in the room was also a plus. And AC.

We were in room 1. Not much of a view, just of the adjacent buildings/windows but we didn't mind it at all. We just kept the drapes closed for privacy. And to see the views and sights, we stepped out the door and walked all around town.

We stayed at Pension a und a for 2 nights in March and were mostly happy with our choice. The location was EXCELLENT! Less than 5 minute walk to the Herrengasse stop off the U3 which made seeing Vienna very easy. And the hotel was also only a couple minute walk to St Stephen's cathedral.

The hotel itself was very small (8 rooms I think) and was very clean and modern and had free wifi which was great. The staff was nice enough and gave us some maps of the city. Breakfast was a small selection of meats, cheeses, and breads and the food was meant to be taken back to your room which was fine because there was a table and chairs to eat on. The drawback; however, was the beds. Very thin mattress which were hard and very uncomfortable. The second night I slept on top of the down comforter hoping that would help, but it wasn’t enough.

I would recommend this place on location alone but with the understanding that this will definitely not be your best night's sleep...
