“Delicious Austrian cuisine in a place with history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

Try to get a table in the Mark Twain room which is full of famous people's autographs on the walls and dates from the 15th century or so. The food is delicious (we went for a couple of interesting starters and the wiener schnitzel) and the service friendly and helpful. You will see quite a few tourists in this restaurant but the locals also choose it as a reliable and classic option. The "cuvée all red" is worth the money if you like red wine.

“Overpriced selected menu”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

We went to the restaurant after reading it was the oldest in Vienna. The building its housed in was great, full of character and charm. The restaurant's decor was well done embracing the "old" look that Mozart or Strauss would have enjoyed, However the menu was limited and eclectic, the food mediocre, the service only fair and prices very high. (We fould Vienna overall to be a bit expensive however) If the menu had been more traditional Vienna/Austrian I think we would have enjoyed it a bit more.

so good we went twice!! very olde worlde restaurant. full of character but the main thing was the standard of the food. cannot fault it. My favourite was the leg of pig followed by a sparkling wine sorbet. the staff were great and very attentive. in my opinion it is medium price range and not to be missed.

“Do not miss in Vienna!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

One of the oldest restaurants in Vienna and Europe! I came back after years and found the same nice atmosphere and good Austrian food. We were seated in Music Room, but the accordion was played at a level we could talk further.
We ordered among other plates Wiener Schnitzel and the taste was great, not commercial at all!

Very captivating place in one of the prettiest regions of the city. Food is very good but traditional. Service is polite and professional.
