so good we went twice!! very olde worlde restaurant. full of character but the main thing was the standard of the food. cannot fault it. My favourite was the leg of pig followed by a sparkling wine sorbet. the staff were great and very attentive. in my opinion it is medium price range and not to be missed.

“Do not miss in Vienna!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

One of the oldest restaurants in Vienna and Europe! I came back after years and found the same nice atmosphere and good Austrian food. We were seated in Music Room, but the accordion was played at a level we could talk further.
We ordered among other plates Wiener Schnitzel and the taste was great, not commercial at all!

Very captivating place in one of the prettiest regions of the city. Food is very good but traditional. Service is polite and professional.

“Really Good Austrian Food in Viennese Old-fashioned Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

The restaurant is also called Der Liebe Augustin Griechenbeisl and it is located in an old building that is full of history and character. When you enter, you will be led to the basement rooms and they are unique dining areas full of antiques and pictures. The Austrian food is really good, one of the rare occurrence in Vienna. They don't just have the typical Wiener Schnitzel, etc., but also other lovely dishes. The Austrian wine and cheeses were also really good. The service could be better, but then Vienna was not really famous for its customer service; at least the waiters were polite and attentive.

“Excellent Austrian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Restaurant is situated in an ancient building, first mentioned in 1350. A long list of famous people had dined there - Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Wagner, Strauss, Brahms, Mark Twain etc etc.

It was full of character, and there was a wide choice of typically Austrian food. Service was friendly, but extremely efficient. It's quite expensive, but worthwhile.
