Excellent food and attentive service in a mediaeval setting.
They have 2 restaurants - 1 is more high-end with some plush curtains and cushions, the other is more "local" with chairs and tables made of ancient oak and a huge bellshaped "glass oven" which heats the room in winter.
Tried the signature dish being the huge schnitzel, which was perfect, golden brown and came with a cranberry-like sauce and french fries with salad. Finished off with huge AppleStruedel in a custard sauce.
Visited with a German-speaking local colleague, and who had a car so access is easy. I was the most un-local looking person there, being Chinese-Australian amongst a crowd of Aryan looking locals, but it was all friendly, although I sensed some curious looks - they don't see many international people, I guess. The young serving staff went out of their way to be friendly, trying out their English and me, my Berlitz phrased German.
Walk up from the mediaeval walled city of Feldkirk which has lots of walled arcades and interesting shops.
