“Truly a special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Had a great night here in order to be close enough to Zurich for an early morning flight. All were very accomodating and the rooms were all very unique. SInce the hotel was not full they were kind enough to let us choose. Dinner was amazing and we had a 4 course tasting with paired wines. Chef came to every table to see how everthing was. It is very close to walk down the hill to shopping, even over to the lake. Truly a special place. Make sure you ask to see the wine cellar.

Room Tip: We had the room on the fourth floor in the cylindrical section. Windows all around for a 180 degree...

The hotel is located in an old building with historic furniture. You can easily walk down to the city center and the lake. The breakfast was very good. Unfortunately no time for dinner there. Internet is free and fast.

We stayed here one night as a family in April of 2013. It was definitely the low season for the area, so the hotel was very quiet. The location is interesting as it's in a quiet neighborhood off of the city center. You can clearly see how this once was a castle as you walk around and see the old fortress walls. The hotel itself did not feel like a stereotypical castle to my 6 and 9 year old. I think they had visions of old brick walls and turrets. That said, the adults in the party found it to be a nice quaint hotel with lots of character. The staff was very helpful and we enjoyed our time at the hotel.

Fancy hotel, located on a hill and offer a decent view of the city. Stayed for 2 days in a junior suite. Rooms are spacious, but cozy, and is located under the roof, and an elevator in the hotel, in principle, no. The restaurant of the hotel is good, claims to be fine dining. Hotel staff - helpful(special thanks to Jacob at the reception). Next to the hotel - a public pay parking (4.5 euros per night) Didn't like for me: Breakfast is very poor, there is almost nothing, and in restaurants are open from 11-00. Comfortless junior suite + no elevator, and the need to rise up to 5 floors.

Our third return visit in August reminded us once again why we love this place so much. It is a 'comfortable castle'; an ancient building with thick walls, quite simply but very comfortably furnished and with great views over the city rooftops. The service is friendly, efficient and unostentatious. The restaurant is outstanding; creative cuisine and a marvellous array of accompanying wines. The chef proprietor takes great personal pride in everything. You do need to be able to climb stairs as there is no lift (elevator) but the rewards are great!

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor are probably best.

a full sense of the ancient house-castle in the Alpine town. it's not a remake! house with a history and tradition. large and bright rooms with antique furniture. simple and comfortable bathrooms with mountain water ..
restaurant is located in several rooms of the hotel, famous gourmet place. Be sure to visit! The hotel staff and the restaurant is extremely polite and responsive.wonderful selection of Austrian wines and their good performance!
the possible disadvantages. No air conditioning, which apparently are not needed in connection with a comfortable climate. during the music festival in July and August, the price for a regular room up to 400 euros! that is unjustified. but it is a problem the whole town!
want romance, Austrian identity and originality, comfort? this is your place!
