We spent several nights at the Schönblick Christmas week 2011. Our stay was in one of the three side houses, best called a holiday apartment. Was quite nice. The price included a complete breakfast that was quite fine. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The view was tremendous. We went for SNOW, frankly. AND for the first few days we were in snow. Sadly, the weather did not cooperate and much rain dampened walking. An earlier review cautioned against old and infirm being easy to do the walks. It is a rough terrain from the side houses to the lodge. Used a car. IF a hiker and if a total snow lover, skiing, for example, this is one fine location. I would rate at least 1/2 point higher if I could. The ONLY complaint (the place can NOT guarantee weather) is what they call a "tea kitchen." It, for us, needed greater care. I would advise not expecting to really cook. It had no oven, but only a two plate "stove" and a fridge. The drip coffee pot in our room was okay but obviously a collection of two pots. The silver ware in the room was less than adequate. The "service" of plates, cups, etc. was for 4 persons. In the silverware basket, there were 1 dirty knife and one sort of sharp knife, also dirty. I am fairly certain we would have had it dealt with but simply was not there to really cook.
A very good find. Location excellent (we are from Germany). AND on Christmas Day was in 3 countries. FUN!
