“First Class Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

We stayed here for one night on the 6th of April. After our disappointing end to our hotel stay in Salzburg (see separate review), we were hoping for a better experience in Kitzbuhel and we were not disappointed.

The hotel is on a hill overlooking Kitzbuhel. Check-in was prompt and efficient. The room was beautifully appointed, very comfortable and spacious, with a balcony facing onto the adjacent forest (as the weather was quite cold, we did not use the balcony). The bathroom was of a similar standard. There was a great variety on offer for breakfast and the food was excellent. We did not have dinner in the hotel but enjoyed the complimentary drink given to us at reception in the piano bar.

The jewel in the crown of this hotel is the swimming pool and leisure centre. The pool is about 20/25m in length which is quite long for a hotel pool. There is a fantastic view over the valley below, as the pool is on the top floor. There are various saunas and steam rooms in the naked area, and the pool itself is great if you want to swim lengths.

The hotel have a regular shuttle bus into Kitzbuhel, we had a hire car so did not avail of this. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: As the hotel is effectively in the countryside, all the rooms would be very quiet at night.

During our one-week stay, the weather was unusually cold (second week of April), but fortunately the hotel's facilities and excellent offered services have overcome that. The room had a brilliant view over the town, from a large balcony. The panorama over the valley, as seen from the Panorama Swimming Pool located at the top floor, leaves you literally at a loss for words. Hotel's personnel are very friendly and multilingual. Food is in abundance and of a large variety. There is a free shuttle service that runs from the hotel to town and back approximately every 20 mins (depending on the demand) which was extremely useful, especially when raining. We would recommend it to anyone. We were very pleased with everything that we experienced at Hotel Schloss Lebenberg and we are willing to return here for our next holiday in Austria.
Thanks Lebenberg!

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms viewing the town

Excellent from the moment you arrive. Staff are friendly and accommodating, many having worked for a very long time. You are made to feel as though you are the only guest with prompt and courteous service.

Rooms very pleasant; large, well furnished, very private and comfortable.

I would endorse everything said by the 5 star reviewers, especially "take the meal upgrade option". Cuisine, wines and restaurant staff superb which makes the cost terrific value.

The only small criticism is that they need an extra minibus or two to avoid waits in town at the need of a skiing day. We often took taxis instead at €8 per trip. Not the end of the world and easily remedied.

Room Tip: The superior rooms in the new part are worth the extra cost. Lots of extra space including walk-in w...

The hotel is located on a hill over the city, so you need to use the ski bus. Otherwise the hotel is very nice, the rooms are tastefully furnished, the restaurant excellent cook and I prefer about spa with swimming pool, which looks out over the whole city. Just a beautiful panoramic view is from the sauna. This hotel honestly recommend.

When staying at this hotel, I highly recommend getting the dinner package with it. The service is impeccable, the food was fantastic. Some notes as to why.
1. Their meals are for in house guests only. While in some hotels, this means averga food and service, the Schloss went over the top with 4 to 5 course dinners, great services, and because its in house serviceonly, YOUR table is always waiting for you.
2. The bar, because of location, is quiet, well stocked, never too busy, and pleasant. If its wild apres ski you want, go to the Lononder.
3. THis is ideal for couples or families. usually the two don;t mix, but the spa is segregated well, children and families in one area, clearly and soundly separated from the adult area.
4, The lobby area has several fireplaces and congreagation areas all with full service. So you can relax and be taken care.

The hotel is not on the low end of service or price, but worth every penny.

My husband and I loved this hotel! Everything inside is beautiful: the rooms are elegant and understated, with beautiful colors flowing nicely together. The bathroom was magnificent, with towel and floor heaters you can adjust as needed and an amazing shower. Plenty of closet space, with all the furniture looking new and being very comfortable. The reception staff is absolutely amazing (I disagree with the reviewers who said that the daytime receptionists were "frosty" - our experience with them was always great). The location is great too, with just a 10 minute walk into town and some amazing views all around (you should walk to town at least once, the views are so worth it!). The walk back to the hotel though is all uphill, so some people may dislike that. The hotel shuttle is great and the staff very accomodating. Breakfast is great, but we found the choices for dinner a bit too...stuffy (the chef trying too hard to be impressive). I wish the hotel did offer an option without half board (though we made our reservation late and maybe we missed that...) - we always prefer to explore a new place rather than get stuck in one spot (and we ended up having dinner in town anyway). We found the ski rental place in the hotel extremely helpful (they brought in the snowboarding gear my husband was looking for and gave him good information about the area). We were not impressed with the breakfast service (it took forever every morning to get a clean table and some coffee - despite of the fact that this is the only task of the numerous waiters roaming around). The bar staff is great and the service there very good. The bar area with the wood fire is really nice too. I agree that the hotel having no in-room WIFI is a huge downside. We made the same comment that GillyN_12 made about the hotel having WIFI in the lounge only - we would have not spent so much time there (and bought as many drinks) if that was not the only place we could use our laptops. Also, the WIFI in the lounge is super slow... Overall, the hotel is amazing and offers a great experience.

Room Tip: Our room was overlooking the town center and we loved the view. You can also see the Horn from that...

Positive: comfortable lounge, great cocktails, good food.

Negative: staff could be more friendly, there was often too many people waiting for the morning and afternoon ski transfers which sometimes lead to a "tussle at the shuttle", no spa pool (a big disappointment), the lap pool was beautiful but cold (this seemed to cater for summer guests not winter skiers), food too salty at times, absolutely no après ski provided, sometimes lacked atmosphere, apart from one night of Austrian traditional music the dinner music was rather average, finally for the cost of this hotel they really should provide wi-fi in the room.

If you are looking for a lovely ski hotel with a fun atmosphere, relaxing spa and great après ski (exactly what we hoped for and expected considering the cost) go somewhere else.

If you are going to Kitzbuhel make sure you hire a locker (40 Euros per week) beside Intersport at the bottom of the main gondola - this was very convenient.

Dear LondonTikki, thank you for your feedback. We hope you enjoyed your time in Kitzbühel as good as possible and are glad to read your comments about our good food and cocktails. We are sorry, you had to wait some minutes for our shuttle into the center of Kitzbühel. We are constantly trying to improve our service, so your criticism is very important to us.
