“Convenient Innsbruck location, comfortable beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2011

We stayed for one night at the Cityhotel Schwarzer Bar. It is a couple minutes walk across the bridge from the Old Town and very convenient. We utilized their paid parking garage which was about a block's walk away from the hotel. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the river - there was a fair amount of ambient noise that wasn't too bothersome. Our bed was VERY comfortable. Decor was minimal and not fussy, which I appreciated. I don't think there is air conditioning, so it may get hot in the summertime - we actually left our windows open all night because the ?unusually warm spring day made our room too warm. Free wifi was fast and breakfast was hearty. My only complaints would be about the uncomfortable bath and hand towels and the shower soap dispenser. Overall, for a one night stay, it was probably about as good of a value you could get for the central location in Innsbruck.

I stayed over there with my wife and our 1 year old daughter. Highly recommended, an excellent situation and very well treated. Food was nice, and the service was pleasant.

I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel and everything went smoothly. The hotel is small (about a dozen rooms spread over 3 floors) and feels friendly and cosy, as it is ran by the Family Auer.

The room was fine, with a nice bed (only I missed having sheets there, but the blanket was good enough), a nice LCD television (fortunately there's BBC and CNN for the non-german speakers!) and a balcony overlooking the imponent and covered in snow Alps! However the best thing in the room is the free wifi internet (even though at times the connection would drop). There's also a restaurant on the ground floor which I haven't tried but seemed nice from outside.

Finally, regarding its location, it couldn't be better for me: just crossing the bridge over the river and I'm at the old city center and a 10-min walk away from Innsbruck's congress center. Getting here was also easy, as there is a bus direct from the airport that will leave you nearby.

As a sum up, a good hotel for 1 or 2 persons, looking for a central, quiet, comfortable and good value place to stay in Innsbruck.

To get to the old town you have to walk across the bridge maybe 50 yards. I was given a room with a view of the river. Parking was just out the front door and free due to the Christmas holiday. Service was very accommodating. I had a serious luggage issue and they bent over backwards to try and assist. Prices were dirt cheap in an already reasonable town.

We got a single room with a double bed. The room was very clean. It sort of reminded me of a dorm room though because of the lighting. Also, our room faced the main street, and we could hear the traffic all night, which made it difficult to sleep. The family that runs the hotel was fine. They were more reserved than I would expect individuals who run their own hotel to be, but they were still nice enough. The location can't be beat either.

A nice family run hotel in a great location. Cross the bridge in front of the hotel and you are in the heart of the old town and its touristic sites. Excellent welcome, small but clean and comfortable room, efficient service (out of order lobby Internet was fixed in matter of minutes), availability of a private parking (6€) though it is easy to have a place in the street. Breakfast is complete with a large enough choice.
On the minus side, our room on the front side was noisy due to the street traffic (specially the garbage truck early morning) and the bathroom was quite small and lacked a proper aeration. No amenities in the bathroom but soap dispensers which are common in this type of hotels.
All in all a pleasant place to stay which I would recommend any time.

Stayed here for two nights. Hotel is a stone's throw across the bridge to old town. Quiet and comfortable. Stayed in a triple room. While the third bed is in a separate room, it was separated only by a curtain rather than a door.
