“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

Modern, stylish, clean, well appointed facilities. Great location, excellent service. The breakfast buffet is superb with a wide selection of fruits, pastries, meats, cheeses, jams, etc. The staff is attentive, especially the team working the restaurant which was packed on Sunday morning -- the waiters and waitresses were all working hard to insure prompt service to all the tables without making anyone feel rushed. Only complaint is that the TV in the room is very small, but we were here to ski and see the town, not to watch television. Would definitely return again.

Traveled for the Burn Air & Style Snowboard event. The Penz was in a great location. They arranged a fantastic large room for us on the 4th floor, which was ready for when we walked in with our children. The small crib and a small side bed were already there and made (at other hotels we've had to wait hours for them to bring the small crib, even when ordering in advance). They had a small gift bag with kids' shampoo, soap and toy sponge, which was a nice touch. They also helped arrange a wonderful baby sitter (the staff was very friendly). The breakfast, as mentioned by other reviewers was outstanding with a wonderful choice of exotic fruits, variety of cheeses, fresh bakery, freshly squeezed juices...a nice way to get the day going prior to hitting the mountains to ski. Only observation is that there is no room service or any other food service available outside of breakfast, which was slightly inconvenient, particularly when traveling with children. Other than that, definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 405 was very spacious and had a lovely view to the front plaza. (It's room for more than 2...

The hotel was very good and the breakfast was excellent, the choice was extremely variat and having a glass of complimentary bubbly if you wanted it in the morning.

The only thing needed was a choice of pillows as all were very soft.

Room Tip: Rooms to the top of the Hotel are better and the left hand side to see the mountains

The rooms are not nearly as well-appointed and designed as the other reviews might lead you to think, especially if you envision a glamorous NYC boutique hotel. The rooms are actually very small but intelligently laid out to maximize space. The bed was not very comfortable, and the bathroom vent was audible for most of the nights.

However, we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff, who were always very eager to help us. This was very pleasant. The breakfast was accompanied by unbeatable views of the mountains from Innsbruck. Breakfast was a very varied European-style spread with scrambled eggs and sausages. The other reviews about the cigarette smoke are accurate, but the smoking area is located far enough from the dining area to make the odor negligible, and we did not see more than one person smoking each morning.

We arrived at 6pm and it was smoke free. 2 cokes, beer and glass of red for 12 Euros. Reasonably smoky when we left. Good for a view of the city lights. I would love to visit again when warmer to go on the open air area.

(Not to be confused with the Penz West hotel near the airport.) Great hotel in the centre, a few minutes walk from the old town & with easier parking under the building than the old town hotels. Fantastic top floor bar & cigar lounge - very comfortable, friendly service, occasional live music, amazing mountain views (but poor choice of cigars). Stunning breakfast - I've never seen such variety! Spacious rooms (though very noisy on Saturday night - I complained but nothing happened). Very very good staff generally. Would go again (but not on Friday or Saturday for noise).
