“Traditional experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

I have been to Austria twice and this last stay was very enjoyable. I found the Weisses Kreuz very convenient and easy to find. It was very close to shops and was a comfortable stay. Room was very inviting and I had a comfortable sleep. Although there were some noises outside during the early hours of the morning, I suppose Austrian's just love a good night out.

Stayed a week here while skiing at the various resorts around Innsbruck. Weisses Kreuz is ideally located in the heart of the old town. Just a short stroll to different restaurants and some of the sights of Innsbruck such as the Golden Roof. The Tourist Information office is just down the street with plenty of information on the various ski resorts. Easy walking distance to bus and tram stops and to the free ski shuttle bus stop at Marktplatz.

The hotel itself was built in the 1400s and proudly boasts of having hosted the Motzart family at one time. I found the place to be clean and in very good repair. The staircase shows the age of the place with sagging corners and creaky steps but it seems quite sturdy all the same and adds to the charm of the place. There is a (small) elevator as analternative to the stairs anyway.

The room that we had was reasonably large and well appointed. The only downfall was that the shower was quite small and tended to leak through the shower screen onto the bathroom floor. Overall a minor inconvenience in the overall experience.

The breakfast room was charming with a variety of historical documents in frames around the walls. The breakfasts that we had were delicious with a variety of cereals, bread, rolls, cheese, cold meats, fruit, yoghurt, juices, milk, tea and coffee. We were certainly well fuelled for each day of skiing.

The staff were courteous and helpfull.

A wonderful, medieval hotel, right in the heart of the old town. It has the best creaky, wonky staircase ever. Lovely quaint bedroom with bath. Nice and warm in winter. The most beautiful old breakfast room and yummy breakfast. We just loved it and would recommend it for everyone wanting to stay where Mr and Mrs Mozart stayed with young Wolfgang. The cable car trip to the top of the mountain was also terrific and a must do. We loved it and would stay here again if in Innsbruck.

Room Tip: We had a double room with bath. They do singles with shared facilities if on a tight budget.

My daughter and I traveled to Innsbruck to spend time in the small city together before she started four months of business studies at the Management Centre Innsbruck. I chose this ideally located hotel in Old Town based on TripAdvisor reviews and was not disappointed in any aspect of my stay right from the initial contact booking the room that was prompt and helpful right through to the caring way that the staff helped my daughter and I find places to visit and new restaurants to try each day of our 9-day stay. The front desk staff also provided kind words when it came time for me to leave my daughter to her studies in Innsbruck far away from home. Positive reviews have often been posted about the clean good-sized rooms, fine continental breakfast and historic character of this hotel but I cannot stress enough that the best quality of the hotel is the wonderful customer service that we enjoyed during our stay. Heartfelt thanks from Room 30 guests (Feb. 23 to March 3).

Room Tip: Higher floors and rooms at the rear will be quieter.

It was our second trip to innsbruck, and we were happy to come back to this lovely hotel again. It was like coming back home, after a long trip:) the stuff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast delicious with a great choice, the rooms are super clean (especially in a comparison with a 4 star hotel in budapest , that we are staying now- that has a dirty carpet, like someone was shoot on it, and a huge spider net on a ceiling ) and cozy, in the very heart of the city. So I would definitely recommend this wonderful hotel to everyone that want to enjoy their stay in Innsbruck!!!!!

Was a guest at this hotel 3 different times in February and found it to a great place to stay.
Rooms are small but very clean and comfortable and rates include a nice breakfast.
Hotel is located int he heart of "Old Town" in Innsbruck and a great starting plae for walking tours and very close to bus transportation and the airport.
Staff treated us great each time we checked back in and/or out so I would recommend this Hotel to anyone coming through Innsbruck

Room Tip: Rooms are small but comfortable and had a different room all 3 times. All were fine.

This is the second time that we have stayed in this hotel and 7 years later it is still the same and the staff are just as helpful and friendly and all speak excellent English. The room we had was on the fifth floor and quite small and looked out onto the main street which was actually quite noisy at various times of the night and early morning. In summer I feel that this would have been more of the case and the bells of the clock tower and catehdral are very close to the hotel and very loud. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed but the shower did not have a great deal of pressure or get really hot and if you were very tall it would have been difficult to fit in without bending down.
The breakfast was plentiful and a wide range of choice mainly cold but you could boil your own egg.It was nice to be in a room with lots of historic pictures of Mozart and other facts about Innsbruck. Tyhe hotel aslo provided hot drinks out of hours for no extra cost. There was free WiFi on the reception floor.
The hotel is centrally located close to all of the main sights and amenities and close to the ski bus stops.
I would recommend this hotel if you like authentic Austrian and a more traditional hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter and ask for a larger room or double comfort for a larger room.
