“Beautiful restaurant with yummy food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

We were there 2 weeks back and the xmas decor were almost ready. Very beautiful and impressive decor for photo taking.

Being oldest means being EXPENSIVE too! We took their 3 course set meal and it took them closed to 30mins to send us the soup then another 10mins for the main course then another 10mins for the dessert and lastly, another 10mins for the bill! We weren't expecting this long and we were in a hurry as we had to get back to the meeting point for our train back to Munich at 4pm. But I guess that is the thing about fine dining.

Their Tiramisu with Peach ice-cream is a MUST to try! One of the best we ever had!! Though they took quite a while to serve our food, we have to agree that they taste really good too.

Try to allocate more time like 2h to dine here. You will enjoy it more. :)

“A lunch to remember”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

We had lunch in the cellar after a walking tour of the city centre. Very atmospheric, having been there since 803(AD). We had a shared mixed grill platter, which came with a huge amount of rice, chips and vegetables - more than we could eat! Nice glass of rose wine with it and a bottle of water. All very nice but rather expensive for what was after all a basic meal. Service was pleasant and quick. Not a lot of people in the celler, so it was quiet - could be rather noisey if full, I suspect, with so many bare walls.

“Historic restaurant with wonderful food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

We loved our meal and time spent in the historic, lovely St. Peter's restaurant. Our server was a very personable and engaging young lady. The salad was excellent as were our entrees and sides. It was a special, memorable evening.

“Charming and atmospheric restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

You won't find many places like this, an olde worlde establishment that has a variety of places within it to eat. We chose the cellar which has a special atmosphere of its own. We enjoyed good reasonably-priced food in lovely surroundings. And all in the enchanting city of Salzburg with its Mozart and Sound of Music connections. We've been to this restaurant twice now. Our favourite was walking to it through the snow when the Christmas markets were in full swing.

“Not up to it's reputation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Having eaten here over 40 some years, I am now ready to say this restaurant is both over-rated and over-priced. The setting is ancient, lovely indeed, and most of the staff very helpful and lovely. The night we were there, I wished for anyone but the abrupt, dower young woman serving us. Portions are surprisingly tiny. I would recommend both starter and main dish. Looking down at 3 small (yet delicious) pieces of wild boar, I wondered what had happened to Austrian generosity. Schnitzel is expensive and decent, slightly larger in portion. Stiegel beer never my favorite made me long for another better Austrian brand. Apple strudel was average, not great. It is place to visit from an historical perspective and for ambiance. Prices are definitely not worthy of the food or presentation.
