“a big hit with a cross-generation group”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2009

My mother, my 10-year-old daughter and I spent three days in this beautiful little hotel last week and we enjoyed every aspect of it. Our room (like a previous reviewer we were also allocated Room 21) was a family suite rather than a family room and like every other part of the hotel it was spotlessly clean.

Sylvia and Inge were very welcoming and their English was great. We ate in the restaurant for two of our evenings in Salzburg and they were very happy to prepare "off menu" meals for my mother.

Whilst this hotel is a little way outside the city centre, travelling to all the tourist attractions is very easy by public transport - we travelled into the city centre (about a 20 minute bus ride) and we also went to the Untersberg and the Hellbrunn Palace using Sylvia's concise and accurate directions.

We loved staying at this beautiful hotel and are already planning a return trip.

We spent quite some time looking for a place that suited us in Salzburg. The reviews of Bloberger Hof appealed to us and we were not disappointed. Arriving by rental car, we were able to park safely and then just take the bus into the central city – so easy!. It is beautifully furnished - it felt like we were staying in a big doll's house. Sylvia and Inge were welcoming and helpful and the food is wonderful…great breakfasts and after having dinner there on the first night, we couldn’t think of a reason not to repeat the enjoyable experience on the second night. Booking directly via email was hassle-free. It was nice to be staying in a residential part of the city and just over the road was the countryside with magnificent mountains in the background.

I stayed for two nights, and loved being able to have a quiet place to stay/sleep outside the city. The bus system is easy to figure out, and stops near the hotel frequently. Traveling as a single woman, I felt safe riding the bus and walking alone even late at night.

The rooms are huge; a single had a full-sized bed and a large sitting area. They are simply-appointed, but clean and in good condition. The staff is extremely friendly and speaks English well.

The food served at the in-house restaurant is very good. I ate one dinner there and spent about 20 Euros, which especially worth it for the convenience of not having to go out. The breakfasts were simple, but had a lot of variety (breads, eggs, muesli, fruit).

With my wife,I spent 4 nights in Pension Blobergerhof in mid November.
We did select this property purely on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews and it will not overstatement to say we did the right thing!!!
Reservation desk was very prompt in replying all the mails we wrote and very clear about all the things. We were quite impressed with the promptness to start with.
As we stayed for 4 nights we were being picked up from Salzburg station by Sylvia(She runs the Pension along with her mother Inge).
The location is fabulous. A quiet country side with excellent view of mountain from the room, and it is not at all far from Salzburg city either,a cool 15 minutes by local bus(Bus#21).During the weekdays they are quite frequent,(every 15 minutes).
Coming to the Pension itself, I must admit that the Room size what we got(Category A) is the largest, we have had experienced all over Europe! the Pension is nicely decorated with a lot of rustic feel,a far cry from those square concrete blocks in the city!!!
The view from the room was stunning,to say the least!
Bathroom is huge, and all modern amenities are there but with a beautiful touch of country side ambiance!
Inge and Sylvia speak excellent English, definitely better than my German!!! Communication is no problem at all.
They are very helpful and would suggest you regarding your sightseeing as well. They even book a Sound of Music tour for us,
There is a nice cozy restaurant in the Pension, where Sylvia and her husband cook absolute delicacy every evening!!!
I have to say that the best Snitzell I had in long time was served by them!! They can beat probably any 5star chef hollow!
Portions were huge and the price was reasonable.
On Sunday they keep the restaurant closed, but there are 2 other equally good places are there to eat, just across the road.
If at all, anything needed a bit attention,is the Breakfast!
The choice could have been better,
We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and no repent!!! If we go back any time to Salzburg, this will be our address once again!

We Have just returned from a 3 night stay in salzburg staying at the Blobergerhof pension. It is 10-15 mins maximum outside the main centre, easy journey by route 21 bus. Really convenient to everything that we as tourists wanted to see but it had the advantage of being located in a beautifully quiet 'suburb' surrounded by meadows residential houses and best of all nestling at the foot of stunning mountains. It's actually even better than the website portrayed. Very quiet and chilled out, family run. We enjoyed a really relaxing stay, spending ages just out on our lovely wooden balcony staring at the view! neither of us speaks German but the staff are all fluent in English and I cannot overstate how helpful and friendly they are. No bar so when you go back in the evening you can have something from your mini-bar and chill in your room. We loved it; a real oasis and the other guests were visible only at breakfast so you can really keep to yourselves if you want. Several elderly guests travelling with children and grandchildren stayed at the time but there were younger couples too as well as ourselves. really felt like the old cliched home-away-from-home!

We stayed here mid October and were extremely happy with our choice. We had a very spacious family room, number 21. The room was spotlessly clean and very cozy, the children slept on a very comfortable sofa bed and we had a separate bedroom with a wonderful view. The bathroom was beautiful with a fab shower and a separate toilet. Actually, we have stayed in 5 star hotels that were not as good as this place so we can't really fault it at all. Yes, it is away from the city but we had a beautiful walk into Salzburg, took us about an hour or you can get a cab or a bus easily which takes about 15 minutes. Having also stayed in the centre of Salzburg in a hotel costing much more this was by far the better choice.
We ate in their restaurant the first night and the food was excellent with a menu for the children as well which was also very good.
Overall, this is a wonderful, typically Austrian place to stay and we would definately return.

Very nice setting on the outskirts of Salzburg, the Alps are only a few km away. 15 minute ride to the center of Salzburg, about 30 minute ride to Germany (in the Alps).

This is a very good location to use as a base to visit the Alps and Salzburg.

The hotel is great, very large rooms, comfortable bedding, clean and large bathrooms. Super accomodations.

The staff is family, from the front desk to the kitchen. They are very friendly and helpful. The only downside is they are not available at the front desk from 9pm till 7am.

The breakfast (included in the room rate is traditional europena fare, they will even make scrambled eggs if you request. It is pentiful and good.

There are some great local restaurants, one is across the street withing walking distance.

I would highly recommend this hotel.
