“A really great stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

An all round great stay at the Astoria at the end of January. Room was spacious and clean with a nice indoor balcony and modern bathroom. All staff were smily and helpful, especially those at breakfast, which was very good. Would definitely stay again. Although a bit out of town we really enjoyed the walk. Salzburg is a brilliant destination.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We stayed at the Astoria for 4 nights over Christmas day. From previous reviews we expected more than what we received. I wish Trip Advisor had a good rather than jumping from average to very good. We arranged a suite months in advance but what we ended up with was a small two room unit on the ground floor with next to no room for luggage for a family of three. Also the WiFi was non existent in the room and only worked in the common areas. There was no fridge or coffee making facilities. However, the hotel is situated on a non busy main road accessible by the No1 or 10 bus. The staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfasts great. The WiFi, coffee making and fridge I can get by without but would have liked the suite to be bigger.

Room Tip: I believe the upstairs rooms are bigger.

This is the best 3-star hotel in the region. The staff is fabulously helpful, the rooms are fully appointed and comfortable, the location is ideally near the heart of the tourist area yet a few blocks away so it is quiet. I have stayed at Hotel Astoria with my family, with my friends and even on my own. Each visit has been excellent. I heartily recommend Hotel Astoria for any traveller who wants to have special and personalized treatment. ~shs

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the hotel have lovely views of regional mountains, and are exquisitely quiet.

Location is great, staff is very friendly. Breakfast is very nice and variable. Good value for money.
The facilities in the triple room were basic, not sure about the other rooms, may be better.
In general for one night staty with a car is very good place to stay in Salzburg. For city trip maybe is better to find central location (Astoria is 20 min walk to the Old City center)

Room Tip: Triple room is next to the reception on the ground floor

I stayed here for a few nights during the Salzburg Festival. It was modern and sunny hotel with a great breakfast and kind staff. They were very helpful to me as an American student travelling alone, and they didn't mind me practicing viola in my room! There is no AC, but opening the window worked just fine in late August. My room was a small single, but very comfortable and clean, with a sleek bathroom. It was my favorite lodging of my whole summer travelling in Europe. There is also free wi-fi in the lobby area, so it was helpful to check future travel plans and email during breakfast.

It was a nice 15-minute walk to the touristy places, slightly closer to the Festspielhaus. There is a grocery nearby, but I mostly stayed around the main tourist attractions and outdoor markets for my other meals.

Very comfortable, perfect location for people with a car (free parking), walking distance from downtown (15 minutes), very clean hotel, great breakfast, wonderful service and assistance. You can ask them where to go for a nice dinner and what to see in town.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

Spent 3 nights at the Astoria in mid June. Had a room on the first floor overlooking the main road. The room was quite modern and very clean. The only downside for us is that it was quite warm when we stayed and the hotel does not have air conditioning. This would deter us from staying again in the summertime, but we would definitely stay again outside of June-August. To sleep with the windows open was impossible due to the noise from the street.

The staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was nice and they even put out a breakfast for us early on our last day as we had to leave for a morning flight. We did not even ask for this so it was greatly appreciated.

The hotel is a good 15 minute walk to the old town (longer if you like to take your time). This was not an issue for us as we don't mind walking. There are also buses that stop right by the hotel making it very easy in hot weather/rain (we got both..!)

I highly recommend the Panorama Sound of Music tour - we had a great time and got to see quite a bit of Salzburg and surrounds, plus have a singalong on the way!

Room Tip: Request something back from the road so in hot weather you can have the windows open without too muc...
