“not amazing but okay for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

usual ibis budget quality. simple but mostly clean and functionally furnitured rooms, not the latest style but neither hideous. big shower, which was great, otherwise rather small bathroom. toilet wasnt entirely clean but meh, got fixed once i complained.
criticism: no tissues, only two small towels and no showermat for two people - got more on request though, very few parking spaces that are also being used by the staff who likes to sit in the lounge with friends and colleagues in the later hours of the day. breakfast is quite expensive, didnt have it so i cant say anything about that. the location is pretty far from the old city center of salzburg where you probably want to go so make sure that you have a car available. bus stop is right in front of the hotel but i have no clue how good the connection to the old town is.
we got a double room for 45€ per night (internet and parking included, excl. breakfast) so we were quite happy with what we got for so little money but otherwise we thought its not worth to pay 73 per night excl. breakfast for a double room (thats their regular rate apparently).
hence: okay for a short stay to explore the city but i wouldnt choose it for my honeymoon.

Usual standard of ibis hotel, nothing special, car parking can be a problem as hotel only has a few dedicated spaces, we were directed up a hill behind a barrier which said you would be towed but reception said barrier broken so would be ok! Room itself was fine, clean, basic, tidy, the shower was huge! If you wanted to use the lift you had to put your room key in the slot, bit of a problem first time as this not explained to us, guess its a security thing to stop people accessing hotel from street level at side. There s a bus stop right by the hotel which takes you in to Salzburg. Breakfast looked ok although we didnt have it. Wifi was free to use and worked fine. McDonald's right by entrance is late night food wanted.

Of all hotels and accommodations in Salzburg, Ibis Hotel is definitely the best one! And it's really cheap for Salzburg - 34 euro per person/night! I've been so many times! Really good level- as always, friendly staff, breakfast, fast internet! You need only few minutes by bus to come to the center... that's a goood hotel! - my honest recommendation :)

Stayed just for one night without reservation so it was a bit more expensive. Accomodation was classic Ibis standard on very good level, nice staff, wide choice on breakfast and quiet room. We arived lately so it was a bit problem to find a parking place, but luckily there was free place on the other side

It is a basic property (as advertised) but the location is a bit off-putting. Thankfully we were driving our own cars so that helped to get to city centers, the train station, etc. otherwise it would be a big challenge. On the flip side, if one was traveling by Highway to Vienna, Munich or Innsbruk and wanted to stay the night it would be a great location since its literally off the highway. It is also a good vantage point to go travel to nearby places such as Hallstat, Grossglockner, etc. (they are not close but this a good location to travel from).

The service is basic but the staff, esp. the front desk, was quite helpful. They do have a 7x24 bar right by the front desk :-)
