Stayed here for 4 nights during the Festival. Their rooms get booked up way in advance and you have to email or telephone, as the web-booking will always show nil availability. The location is lovely as it is across the river, and the bridge to the Festival Concert Hall is out the back door of the bar, a very convenient 8-10 mins walk, in heels. Breakfast is a feast, and service is faultless. The rooms can however be an absolute nightmare if you get a room next to the elevator, or a room without double-glazing facing the street not the river. If you do not specify at time of booking and are assigned one of these noisy rooms, you are done for, as the traffic noise is intolerable, and you can hear the mechanism of the lift all night. Ask for a room away from the elevator, and facing the river and all will be well. At these prices, you should stand your ground. Also, beware-- rooms and bathrooms on the 3rd floor are very small, and are really only good for single occupancy by slim people. It seems that the hotel will be undergoing some renovation shortly, which is about time, as it is starting to fray at the edges. Some concierges are nicer than others, and they take time to warm up. The nicest staff are in the dining room.
Get a room with double-glazing, away from the elevators, and facing the river.
