We are a group of four (husband, wife, 5 year old daughter, and mother-in-law) who just returned from what was extended to a 2 week trip to Austria and Germany due to Hurricane Sandy. Our trip commenced with a 2 night stay at the Hotel Sacher Salzburg, and they set the bar extremely high for the rest of the trip! Back in July we booked interconnecting rooms, a superior double with a deluxe double room. The rooms were spotless and gorgeous, with toile fabrics, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, river views, and one even had a balcony! At turndown they put out starched cloths on the floor with slippers on each side of the bed! There were mini bars in both rooms, 2 complimentary waters per room, and complementary mini Sacher tortes for each person! The front desk staff were all top notch, and spoke excellent English! Gerhard especially was extremely helpful, with all of his recommendations for restaurants, outlet shopping, and salt mine excursions right on. Our daughter was treated like a princess! We ate dinner in the cafe one evening, and we felt like we were back in Paris! Food was excellent that night! Breakfast was included in the room rates, and we were blown away by the elegance and ambiance. While we have been to buffets with more selection, the presentation and quality was amazing. The starched napkins that were accidently dropped were quickly removed and replaced; eggs made to order; even sacher torte for dessert! There was no written or unwritten dress code that we noted, and despite declining standards these days, it isn't appropriate that track suits or pajamas should ever be worn to an elegant restaurant. The city itself was absolutely gorgeous, and we would return again and stay here again without hesitation! Thank you to the staff for an amazing beginning to a wonderful trip!
Ask for a room with a balcony on the river!
