“Average hotel....good location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

We stayed in this hotel for only one night in January, 2014. The rooms are small but adequate. The location of the hotel is good....a short walking distance to the main pedestrian areas. No parking at the hotel but there is some located about 500m away. Dropping off/picking up luggage is a bit difficult as you have to park right on the road. Internet was free. The reception staff were very nice. Breakfast was not included but we were told that it was 19 Euro each.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel 3 years ago and we still have very pleasant memories from this hotel. While I do understand some of the criticisms concerning low ceilings, slanted floors and limited electrical sockets you have to understand that this is a very, very old historical building and as such has its charm.

We did enjoy the weird slanted and creaky floors and the slightly crooked doorways because we love things that have an older charm. The room was very large, the furniture modern and the view unbeatable. The staff was kind of aloof and there was sometimes noise from the people going to the rooftop bar but all in all it was a memorable experience and one that we would love to relive given the chance.

Stayed to visit Christmas Markets and would recommend both the hotel and the markets. Hotel only did breakfast which had a large selection buffet. Room very comfortable and large bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful. I liked the eclectic styling of the bedrooms but the hallways and corridors are very dark.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of hotel have good views over the river and city.

Hello everyone. I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend about 2 years ago and we had a amazing time. I'm currently doing a scrap book of where we have stayed and need some memorabilia from the orange hotel. If anyone is going to stay here I would be so grateful if you could pick me up a napkin or anything that's small and can be posted easily and send it to me I will be so thankful. Any questions please write back. Many thanks. Chris

Great location in walking distance of city centre. An old hotel with different themes for each room, decor and design interesting. Great bar with terrace on 6th floor. Can get a little noisy when your below, but not that disruptive. Great access to wifi throughout hotel, although logging in and out continuously can become tedious. The staff are super helpful and friendly. Only bad review; the hotel pillows, prepare for a stiff neck;)

This hotel is situated right on the river in the centre of Salzburg overlooking the Old Town. All the main sites in the Old Town are literally 5/10 minutes walk away. The views from the hotel are stunning, provided you are on the river side.

Breakfast is served on the roof terrace though most of the tables are at the back and the few tables which actually overlook the Old Town are generally reserved for premium guests. At night the terrace becomes a bar/night club and although it wasn't a problem for me, I can see that certain rooms might be disrupted by the noise. My own room on the 3rd floor was superb, with a wonderful view. The floor was very creaky but it all added to the charm.

My one quibble: wifi. Any hotel where you have to even ask for a code I deduct a star (this would have been a 4 star review). The wifi at the Stein requires you to login several times a day (7 times in my case) and is sporadic in any case. I don't expect to have to ask for a voucher to use electricity or water in a hotel room, and wifi ought to be the same.

So if wifi is an issue or if you are a very light sleeper, beware, but otherwise, the location is unbeatable.

Stayed for two nights for sightseeing. Overall, it was fairly good.

Pros
Close to everything what to see in Salzburg. The view from the room across the river was beautiful.
観光に便利な場所にあります。部屋からの景色は抜群です。

Cons
The room was right ahead on the street and noisy. The window was double structure and if it's closed it was okay. The room was terribly small. no fridge. cost performance is not good.
部屋が道路沿いだったため、車の騒音がうるさい。二重構造の窓を閉めれば音は入りませんが。部屋はあまりにも狭くてびっくりしました。冷蔵庫がないのが難点。コスパ的にイマイチです。
