“Charming home, delightful owners”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2011

Finding an affordable place to stay in Europe can be a real a challenge especially in the tourist areas but we found the Truber Stube to be a good value for Salzburg. Located on a side street just blocks from the old city center (St. Peter's cathedral, monastery, castle), it was not only convenient but quiet as well. Marianne and family were warm, friendly and accomodating. The rooms had an old-fashioned charm, were super clean, and had comfortable beds. I wish they had an espresso machine though, since we never did find a decent cup of coffee in all of Salzburg! But I would definitley recommend the Truber Stube if you appreciate the benefits of a small family-run pension over a large, chic hotel.

We took the recommendation of travel guru, Rick Steves, in staying at the Hotel Trumer Stube, and we weren't disappointed. It is located less than five minutes from the main part of Salzburg and all of its Christmas markets. The service was excellent. Marianne and her parents were delightful, made us feel very welcomed, answered all of our questions and arranged our tours. This is not a luxury hotel, rather a fairly small family-run property, so it more tailored toward budget-conscious travelers. As a result, expect modest-sized rooms and small showers. Nevertheless, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the firm bed made for a good night's sleep. In sum, the hotel is a great value for the price.

This is the second time I have stayed at Hotel Trumer Stube in Salzburg and would not consider staying anywhere else. The family-owned establishment is like staying with family and when one is away from home, especially that far away, being treated like family is so important. All of them, the mother Marianne, the daughter Marianne and the husband/father were outgoing towards me in everyway. They were helpful with directions, what to do in Salzburg, and the location was perfect - central to everything I wanted to do. Kudos to this family for making me feel so welcome and for making my stay in Salzburg one I will never forget.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 days and absolutely loved! The location is perfect, and you could not ask for a nicer and more helpful hostess! She offered lots of recommendations and made sure we felt comfortable and was accommodating in every way. As for people who feel like the room was too small, I've stayed in many European hotels and for a B&B it was perfect amount of space! I don't spend much time in my room so it doesn't bother me. Also, yes paying in cash is annoying, but that is just how it is at a lot of hotels in fact some places will give you a better rate if you pay in cash. Read any Rick Steves books and he actually suggests paying in cash wherever you can. My only suggestions would be larger towels in the bathroom and a better pillow, but many of the pillows are like this in Europe. Also another great thing about this hotel is the free WiFi! I will return and stay here again!

My family and I stayed at the Hotel Trumer Stube twice in the last three months. It is centrally located and reasonably priced. Our family of four cost €130, while other hotels just down the block cost 5-6 times more.

The staff was friendly and helpful, but not pushy. They arranged for a tour when we asked and provided excellent restaurant recommendations.

I am sure we will visit Salzburg often and plan to stay at the Hotel Trumer Stube again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at this hotel. The staff was so very friendly and helpful. We felt welcome the moment we arrived and were treated more like dear friends than guests. The hotel was centrally located in the middle of Salzburg and was convenient to downtown attractions. Our room was not large but was adequate for our short stay. We requested and received a very quiet room overlooking the courtyard. We hope to return to Salzburg someday and stay in this hotel again. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.
