“This is a wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at this hotel. The staff was so very friendly and helpful. We felt welcome the moment we arrived and were treated more like dear friends than guests. The hotel was centrally located in the middle of Salzburg and was convenient to downtown attractions. Our room was not large but was adequate for our short stay. We requested and received a very quiet room overlooking the courtyard. We hope to return to Salzburg someday and stay in this hotel again. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

We had a wonderful time staying at the HOTEL GARNI TRUMER STUBE. This is a family run hotel and they are so dear. You will love to experience their hospitality and care for your every need.

I will be a bit long this time because I am so angry!
The girl at reception was so well-mannered that we should have suspect something...
The price was quite high (130 euro in low season). The room is very small and old -not only old fashion. I have been in authentic austrian hotels and this is something else!
The bathroom is tiny, no place for your legs on the toilet seat...) Very old equipment in bathroom, an old bucket as a garbage can. The bed was small, with a very bad matress, no normal sheets, but instead a sort of matress protection (20 years ago I used this kind of sheet under my babies' sheets to protect matress against pee...). Last renovation of the hotel and the rooms must have been done not after the 70'. Moreover each time someone enter or get out his room, everybody 'enjoys' it. In other words, very moisy if you're not alone in the hotel.
At the reception, we have been told we will get a romantic and large room with a 'homemade breakfast'...we got in industrial orange juice, a industrial packed cake and a small cup of home made museli which was about OK. So disappointing !
We have spent one week in Austria before this night, and I had for better price in Linz and even in Vienna center much better return.
The parking is also far away (10 mn walk in the snow) and expensive . But above all, the irritating thing was that when registrating, the reception girl (who is the owner daughter) told us they accept only cash. Quite surprising nowadays...When we said we have not enough cash left, she tried to convince us to go to the bank but when we decided to give up and go to the next hotel, she said she will arrange something with her father. Because we were tired-we drove all day- we agreed and gave our credit card. Then she added that she charges 4 more euro. I got the impression she just manipulated us. Later on when we saw the so old/poor/basic and ugly room, I was really frustrated and felt we dealt with impostors. I really felt like Hansel and Gretel trapped in the witch house after she tempted us...

The owners of this little hotel (most especially Marianne) could not have been more helpful, setting up tours for us and giving us good advice and directions. The rooms were clean and quiet and breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The hotel is tucked back in a neighborhood street close to everything -- restaurants, shopping, sightseeing. This friendly little hotel was one of the highlights of our trip.

I chose Hotel Trumer Stube based on comments/recommendations of other Trip Advisor users, and I was not disappointed. It is a clean & charming hotel with modern conveniences. The hotel had an elevator, which was a great feature, especially for a traveller carrying a heavy suitcase like myself. It is located across the river from the Old Town - about 10 minutes stroll away, and also a short stroll from the Mirabell Gardens. Marianne and her family, the owners of the hotel, were very attentive to our needs - Marianne recommended places to see, and even booked our tickets to the Mozart concert at the Fortress and the Sound of Music Tour. Great place to stay!

We were pleased to deal with Marianne, our host, who helped organize our trips, recommended fine, affordable, restaurants and genuinely appeared to care about how our trip to her city was fairing. She secured a wheelchair for one of your traveling companions. She always greeted you with a smile. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was conveniently located near some great restaurants and shops. Breakfast was always tasty and more than adequate.

I spent my 30th birthday at this Hotel. As soon as I arrived & Marianne (owner's daughter) discovered it was my birthday, they went out of their way to make my day special. Gave my husband wonderful ideas for dinner & a Mozart concert & even had Austrian Chocolate for me on my return to the hotel. Excellent breakfast in the morning & spacious rooms. Worry-free environment! Would highly recommend, it was the best hotel of many great hotels we had in Europe during our three-week vacation!
