“Just Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

Salzburg was the highlight of our maiden trip to Austria, and AllYouNeed Hotel was certainly the pick of the places that we stayed in during the trip. Technically, it's a 15-20 min walk from the Salzburg Hauptbahnoff, but I would advise travelers not to attempt this with their luggage, and just get on a bus which will drop them 5 min away from the hotel. I have forgotten the bus no. unfortunately (it was no. 2 or no. 4) but there is a Tourist Information office at the station itself, and it is a good idea to ask them the exact bus no. and the stop where you have to get off. I am specifically saying this since the website of the hotel recommends a 2-bus combination for reaching it, but the bus recommended by the tourist office does not require you to make any changes with your luggage, its just that the walk is some 2-3 minutes longer. The hotel is tucked away in a niche of it's own, next to a hill. And once you find it, you'll realize how conveniently located it actually is.

A 10-min (and yes, 10-min actually means 10-min) stroll takes you to the centre of the city, and all the tourist sites. However, this walk, at times, may actually stretch much longer, since the street that goes from the hotel to the old town is so cute, picturesque and buzzing, with cafes, shops etc., that you would constantly keep on getting distracted and stop after every 10 meters! Another street leads you to the lovely Mirabell Gartens, again just 10 min walk from the hotel. All the places of interest in Salzburg are closely-knit in terms of distances, so please do not get swayed by any advertising for transport passes, you honestly don't need to use any transport within the old town. Also, in case you are planning to catch a bus to Bad Ischl for going to Hallstatt, no need to go till the station, the bus stops at the bus stop near the hotel. (Again, have forgotten the name of the stop, pls check at the Tourist Information center)!

Coming to the hotel itself, in addition to the location, two things stand out to make it a fabulous place to stay: the staff, and the brilliant breakfast (included in the price). All the staff members seem to be students, they are young, chirpy, and extremely helpful, and pleasant to deal with. The breakfast happens on the terrace, and you get an amazing view of the city rooftops, and the hill behind you, from there. Wide assortment of food, and tasty to boot. The only slight 'complaint' is that the croissants are limited in number, and tend to get over early, so good to hoard some as soon as you reach the breakfast room :-)

The rooms are big, and very hostel like, but a plush hostel I must say. No AC, but it was cold when we were there, so obviously didn't need it. The street outside is extremely quite, since it is not a public road going 'to' anywhere, just has some pedestrians.

Would we go there again? Absolutely. We would be mad not to!

We spent four nights here and found the hotel to be ideal as a base to explore Salzburg. It's normally a student residence and this is reflected in the rooms. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The breakfast room on the top floor offers beautiful views over the Salzburg skyline and the breakfast buffet itself is of a good standard. The young staff at reception were extremely friendly and efficient.
We came to the hotel by taxi and our driver clearly didn't know exactly where the hotel was. There's a barrier at the entrance to the road, which the driver didn't know how to pass.
The hotel is centrally situated and all the sights of Salzburg are within easy walking distance.

The hotel is in a great location, with a selection of hotels within a couple of minutes. the main attractions of Salzburg are alo within walking distance. The room was very spacious and the buffet breakfast (included in the room rate) provided a good variety of food. It was a pity that the weather meant we couldn't sit out on the terrace for breakfast. If there was a downside, it would be that the wifi was only accessible in the foyer area.

The hotel is on a private street which means very little traffic. It has clean comfortable rooms, helpful staff & a short walk to the old town with lots of great shopping & restaurants.
The breakfast buffet is included and has a good variety of food to choose from. Also it is located on the top floor with an outdoor deck that gives you great views of the city. Not much more you could ask for.
Would definitely recommend.

We were just visiting Salzburg as an overnight side trip. This hotel fit our needs perfectly. As previously noted, within walking distance from the train station and the old town and our age group included 60's through 70's. It is a bit difficult to find which was probably our biggest problem. The breakfast buffet was a wonderful surprise...good food and plenty of it and if it weren't for the rain we would have loved to eat on the roof top patio. The views were an added bonus. As we only stayed one night, many of the "extras" one might expect were of no concern. We thought it was a good deal for the comfort, service and cleanliness.

Very inexpensive hotel. Very basic, but CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and GREAT BEDS. When going economy, the big thing is a comfy bed and a clean room and AllYouNeed had it! Breakfast was a pleasant surprise (very good buffet) and the roof top dining room had lovely views of the city. Staff were pleasant and very helpful and accommodating. The location was perfect, Salzburg is not big, but still, the location was an easy walk to Mirabell Palace, Old Town and the Fortress. Only downside was the shower stall was small.... but if that's all one can complain about... well, it wasn't a showstopper!!!

Room Tip: Ask for extra pillows if you like more than one

This hotel suited my needs, a central location and a short stroll to the old town. Rooms very clean and comfortable. I do agree with some of the previous feedback that it can be noisy with cars and trucks going up and down the drive however if you are in a higher room probably not so back. Overall I was very happy with it.
