“Great Hotel to explore Salzburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

We rented two rooms and enjoyed staying at Salzburg. It was a quick taxi ride from the train station and is in a great location to explore the city. The staff was very welcoming and gave great advice to see the city.

The breakfast was great too.

We had to keep the fans running and the windows open all night due to the heat. But we did not find the traffic noise too disturbing.

We also did the Sound of Music Tour by Bob's Tour. They picked us at the Hotel. That was also enjoyable.

Nice hotel & helpful staff - as said very good location for exploring the sites. Not good for sleeping - we were at top of building in smallish room & only way to cool room was to have windows open in both room & bathroom & leave door open between them. OK until bells woke us up through the night. Second night kept awake by opera performance in square behind church. Only hotel of trip stayed in without AC & we really missed it!

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Room was large with big windows that opened fully, which was important when we were there because it was VERY hot (July). We were concerned about the lack of AC but it turned out OK. They provided a fan for us. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was ample. Location superb - very short walk to old town attractions and shops & restaurants. Would definitely stay there again

This hotel has very good references. It has nice rooms, decent breakfast, very nice staff and it has perfect location, just couple steps from Mozart Platz. It does not have parking, but you can easily park in parking houses nearby. But this hotel does not have air-condition. We have been told that it is due to protection of historical center of Salzburg (it is Unesco city). But we came in the heat wave, when temperatures exceed 37 Celsius. We got fan, but this helped only little bit. The only way how to cool down room (we had Nr. 31) was to open windows later in the night. But there were couple restaurants just bellow the room, especially Irish was traditionally noisy. Normally room got very good noise insulation, but with opened window you had all noises in the room. We had very little sleep during our stay. So - conclusion is: quite good hotel, but do not go there if temperature goes over 30 Celsius.

Room Tip: Room 31 is above busy street. No problem with noise, until you open windows. As there is no air-cond...

We arrived at the Altstadthotel Weisse Taube on July 22 (my birthday!) after traveling by train from Dusseldorf. This historic, family-owned hotel has so much charm and ambiance and is perfectly situated for exploring the Altstadt of Salzburg. Our room, #28, was a lovely room with everything we needed. Although the area was experiencing an unusual heat wave, the staff provided us with an effective fan to keep the room cool and comfortable for sleeping at night.
Willemijn at the front desk took very good care of us, answering all our questions about the area and suggesting 2 restaurants for dinner, both of which were excellent, K&K and Zirkelwirt.
Breakfast was an Austrian breakfast, and the personal service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to have a wonderful Salzburg experience.

It´s a small Hotel in the middle of salzburg but not in the middle of the tourist spots. The sights are in walking distance and the 220 degree coffeehouse is just 2 minutes away. Delicious coffee and cake. Mozartplatz, Domplatz, Getreidegasse .... just 2 minutes away. the rooms are nice and clean. Breakfast is served and there is no buffet. The staff is very nice and helpful. The hotel is family business.

We will stay at weiße Taube again.

The hotel has a great location in the old section of Salzburg, within easy walking distance of the sights and the restaurants. We found the staff to be very helpful in getting us oriented when we arrived and in making several restaurant recommendations that worked out well. Our room was clean and well appointed, with a bit of charm. This is a very good choice if you are visiting Salzbrg.
