“Amazing (for no frills)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

We stayed only 2 nights - suited our needs!! Staff were amazing really nice and helpful. Rooms are modest and very clean (and equipped w'TV - for those who require). Perfect location...3min walk to city centre. Great part of the city nestled in its own little "square like" gathering. Included breakfast as well at the french inspired cafe (right next door). The price was amazing - have no complaints. Please keep in mind its very simple, safe, clean and perfectly situated in Salzburg - wow the price!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, it helped me to feel the spirit of old Salzburg. It's located near Mozart Wohnhouse, just a few minutes walk to Mirabellplatz with Mirabellgarten and Salzach river. Pobably the best location in the city, during my August stay it wasn't noisy at all.

Hotel features many rooms for single stayers, both with private bathrooms and bathrooms in block of 3-4 rooms. Interior is minmalistic but cute - handmade-painted cabinets with German proverbs and quotes are cool. Rooms were extremely clean, bathroom looked like brand-new.

Young lady at the reception desk was funny and friendly. Staff helped me to extend my stay to one more day, though I had to change the room.

Rather good breakfasts were included in the price and served at a pretty cafe next door.

I'd highly recommend this hotel (especially for solo travellers) due to its location, staff, low prices and services.

Located across the Salzach River from the Old Town, the hotel is a couple of blocks from the pedestrian bridge to Old Town. Location is perfect. Room was clean with a comfortable bed and a friendly and helpful staff. Hotel did not have air conditioning and in mid-August, it was needed. Breakfast was a cafe next door that had a standard European breakfast. There was a music bar on the ground floor so it was noisy at night if you opened the window. The room was of minimalist design -- no couch or comfortable chairs, just two wood chairs and two tables. If you need a hair dryer, you have to check it out from the front desk. A great location but without air-conditioning, you should not stay here if the weather is forecasted to be hot.

Room Tip: The two drawbacks were a lack of air-conditioning and the noise from the music bar.

Very cute for dorm rooms! The room was clean and the front desk staff friendly. Breakfast was right next door. There was free wifi in the lobby area. The location was great, a short walk from everything we wanted to see. We were very happy with our stay here.

Booked this 'hotel' via hotels.com and although it was rather expensive it was not value for money and was more like a hostel. The location certainly is very convenient, only a short 5min walk across a foot bridge into the old town and is also convenient for getting buses to and from the Salzburg train station. We actually stayed in two rooms. The first room was rather large and we had plenty of room, although it was old, worn, looking well in need of an upgrade and some new furniture. Then for the second night, we were advised that they were "double booked" for some reason? So they moved us into a much smaller room without a bathroom, naturally we were not very impressed! We had to use the common bathrooms down the hallway. They were clean and fine but a little bit of inconvenience. They offered us a discount which was appreciated however we still weren't happy with what happened.

I can understand that this was probably, hopefully, a rare occurance. It did however give us an idea about what their smaller rooms were like though & it was terrible. It was like a little shoebox! Very tiny little room with not much natural light, extremely worn, old, scratched and dusty furniture (see pics). My partner and I were also were not impressed that it was twin bedding only when we'd asked for double.

So our stay was a bit hit and miss. All in all though it was not value for money at all, we would have been much better off going to a proper 'hotel', whereas this place has more of a hostel fell to it. It's very very basic, and rather old.

Room Tip: Choose one of the larger rooms with it's own bathroom

As I understand it, this hotel is opened from July-September as a hotel and serves as a student dormitory the rest of the year. I had read mixed reviews of the hotel here but the price and location lured me in. I really liked it. I needed a single room in Salzburg and I was pleased. It is very clean, the room was comfortable and had a few charming touches. I thought the staff was helpful. Free wi-fi is available in the lobby, in the room you need an ethernet cable. A previous review mentions the smoke. Yes, there is a room off the lobby where the staff gathers to smoke and the lobby and hallways did sometimes smell of smoke. It did not affect me in my room though so this didn't bother me too much.

Room Tip: There is ongoing construction on the building across the street so to minimize noise, ask for a room...
