“Superb place to stay!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2011

We ( an extended family on vacation) for three nights. All of us agreed that this was a
superb hotel!! Rooms varied in sized with Suite 2 being extremely large. All were fine.
Rooms were spotlessly clean and modern. Personnel were very helpful, professional and
fluent in English and other languages. Location was excellent with restaurants in house,
50 ft. away, to all over. Major sights were minutes away by foot. Old Salzburg is a walking town, and this hotel was close to many, and not far from any. Breakfast was available in house and very good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Drawbacks?? Parking is not available on site, but nearby. Not a problem as you see Salzburg on foot.

The hotel was a comfortable place to come back to after a day of touring the city. Centrally located meant you were only a few minutes away ever. The staff was exceptional (especially Geza) helping recommend places for dinner or drinks, getting taxi's, even helping us be able to watch an American football playoff game.

The rooms and furniture are average quality but the location and staff make the difference.

Great location at a super price. Helpful friendly staff and a hearty breakfast sets you up for the day.We remarked that it was the quietest hotel we had ever stayed in ! Salzburg is an easy place to get around and you really only need a couple of days unless you intend to go out of the city.
The train links are great to Munich and as we took an Easy Jet flight to Munich it kept our cost down. Book any train journey before you travel online to save more money.

This hotel's location in the centre of historic old Salzburg is it's greatest asset. Another very good feature is the excellent breakfast. A good pizzeria on the ground floor.
The single bedrooms are desperately small; mine was cluttered up with 6 pieces of "traditional" Tyrolean furniture, plus the smallest and most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep in. The bathroom was also small and gloomy, with luke warm water.
The double rooms may be more comfortable.
The hotel may be quaint and have some charm, but it is certainly not worthy of any 4 star grading, by any up to date international standards. The one internet station was relatively expensive to use.
Like all hotels in central Salzburg, it is overpriced for the facilities available. I have stayed in this hotel before, but will not be going back again.

Staff arrogant, too small breakfast room for that amount of people. Coffee machine broken and steam room also despite advertising.

Ok , read the last 10 or so reviews and what is the overiding factor that keeps getting mentioned again and again?. The rooms!
Avoid room 219 like the plague.
When we travelled the weather was reasonably cool but this did not detract from the intense heat build up in the room.
We had one small window that offered little respite and although the hotel supplied a fan this did not help.Thick old medieval type walls that retain heat with NO air-con.
The room itself was medicre at best with basic 2 star furnishings.
The room had a plasma tv but the only accesable english channel was CNN news.
The room had the most creakiest floor I have ever walked on and I felt so sorry for the poor people who lived below us on the first floor
Are you all getting the picture yet ?
If you dont believe me then be my guest and book.
Bathroom was exellent with good shower and water pressure.
Breakfast was of average quality and the cooked breakfast consisted of scrambled egg hot dog sausage and bacon for the full 4 day duration of our stay.
On the first day of our stay they had no hot food because they had run out.
They said they were so sorry and we went so hungry.
No other hot food was offered for the stay.
Again average, neither poor nor great.
The breakfast room was spotless and quaint
The staff we found to be very friendly and we encountered no problems.
The lobby area and reception was very good and pleasing to the eye.
Finally the location was absolutley spot on and a cock stride from all the Alstadt old town had to offer.
Recomend the Salsburg card for sheer value for money.
Would I stay here again, no because the rooms were so uncomfy and of a poor quality.
And dont go along with the argument that its only for sleeping in, remember its your home for your stay and somewhere to retreat back to after a busy sight seeing day.
And finally it states 4 star.
In your wildest dreams !!!
If you were a little economical with the truth you may say 3 star.
I would say 2.5 stars when you consider the location.
At £85.00 a night b and b I would expect much much more.
Big thumbs down
Your very own little sauna ... ENJOY
