“Great Value in Old Town Salzburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2010

I booked this hotel sight unseen on the internet, always a slightly scary idea. However, I was totally surprised and delighted with this small boutique hotel. The warm reception, the convenience of the parking garage just two minutes' walk from the hotel and the quiet and nice location were all pluses. My clients were staying at the overpriced Goldener Hirsch on the Getriedegasse. I felt like I was winning the lottery for finding this little gem at one fourth the price of the Hirsch. The only downsides were the small pool, which may be great for kids to frolic in but which is useless for any kind of exercise for adults. The rest of the spa area was very nice, and spic and span clean. Breakfast was fine, if a little spartan, but what was presented was done so well and the service was very fast. I loved the free DVDs and the DVD player in each room. That's thoughtful! Never could get the wireless to work in my room but the two fast computers in the lobby worked fine for me. Prices at the in-hotel bar are fair, which is nice for a change. All in all, I would definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to Salzburg.

I booked this hotel because it was recommended as family friendly. We booked a suite as travelled with 2 young children. We checked in and found our room was in a different building across the street, on the top floor WITHOUT a lift and the car parking which I thought was part of the hotel, was miles away. Then when we finally got to the room, it was a duplex SO not convenient with young children and dangerous with the stairs. Then there was the WIFI, free they said. Well, our devices didn't even pick up that there was a WIFI network to connect to. Salzburg was lovely but staying in this hotel ruined our trip.

We went to Wolf-Dietrich for Valentine’s Day. We were on a trip that started in Munich and will lead us to Kitzbühel for some days of ski.

We stayed in a Romantic Suite called Papagena, we could not think of anything more romantic than this. The lights turn low with a simple touch and the ceiling looks like a starry night. The room ambience makes you like you’re in a fairy tale. The lights, the bathtub close to the living room for a hot bath, the classical music that comes from the hi-fi system, the house perfume that is available the rose petals over the coffee table and over the bed that is as comfortable as romantic…

The hotel as available an indoor swimming pool, in the SPA area, also as a sauna and a steam bath with a relaxation chamber with couches. This area is very modern and clean.

As a courtesy for guests, at dawn it is available in the lobby some tea and biscuits. You can enjoy a cup of tea, there are plenty varieties you can choose, sitting on the sofas and looking at the fantastic books with Alps photos.

The hotel is also located in a nice place in a quiet side street of the city’s pedestrian area. You can leave the car parked as you are just a few minutes walking from Mirabell Palace and Mozart’s Residence.

This is a wonderful choice for a reasonably priced and well located hotel in Salszburg. The service is excellent, with friendly English speaking staff. They offer a delicious breakfast in a relaxed space, and also offer a free afternoon tea & croissants. We would recommend it highly to all, and hope to come back for another stay.

My wife and I have just returned from a week at this hotel. Without doubt it's the friendliest, nicest hotel we've ever stayed at, and we have travelled the world. The whole city is within walking distance, and the reception staff help out with any query. Breakfast caters for all. Airport to hotel by taxi cost 14 euros. Eating out isn't cheap, but there's no shortage of restaurants.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms whilst not overly large were very comfortable and quiet, we slept very well. The bathrooms a good size. The breakfast was of a high standard. We were aware we were staying in the residence over the road up two flights of stairs but this was not a problem for us.

We got one of the 'family rooms', which worked out great. Wonderfully clean and modern room, shares a play area with another room (which was vacant, so all to ourselves). Our daughters (4 and 7) loved being able to go for a dip in the spa pool in the evening after a long day. Breakfast was wonderful: actual GOOD FOOD, not just a huge spread of so-so stuff. And the location is perfect: Right off one of the main pedestrian malls, easy 10 minute walk to the center of town, and very close to the big parking garage dug/chisled out of the mountain, so getting to/away is very easy by care. Staff was very nice and helpful.
